There have been racist cops around Chicago for a long time. I grew up on the South Side and listened to my cop uncle talk as a kid.

A police chief needs to be fired for throwing local money away at federal services, while ICE is literally one of the most funded arms of the government right now.

I wish people would stop saying “sue them!” Suing does absolutely nothing to the police. No cops will ever sit in court because of it, and they never feel any consequences from lawsuits. The settlements are paid by the taxpayers, the same people whose rights the cops are violating.

The police department should be sued by the protesters for violation of their 1st amendment rights and acting in contravention of Illinois law.

All cops are bad And they defend and protect other cops more than anyone including/especially their own families.

Worth separating two things: peaceful activism deserves full First Amendment protection, and local-federal cooperation on genuine criminal investigations is normal and lawful. The real question is whether this crossed from investigating crimes into monitoring speech.
