Windows: We killed all your apps and rebooted your computer overnight because we decided you wanted to install an update. Fuck you. Macs:

Don't forget the original iteration of it either. "You're running a game fullscreen and can't see the prompt? Not anymore you aren't." [I believe that happened to me] "Away for five minutes to pee and get a drink? It's free real estate for a restart." "Expensive satellite internet? 6 gig update!"

"you said you wanted to install an update but you're obviously working on something so i'm gonna wait" is the only valid way to do this and microsoft has been screwing its users over for a decade or whatever

Are jokes about the Broadcom WiFi drivers shitting themselves when the process updates, and immediately screeching everything to an halt, still accurate

How about the linux approach. You can just update everything and things keep working without a restart*, and it just tells you to please restart stuff sometime so you no longer run old program versions. * except firefox, they somehow managed to fuck it up and won't let users keep doing stuff.
