well at least I had a good BLFC. I wish it had let me get more than 30 miles before all its coolant and oil left but I'm glad it happened here instead of on top of Sonora Pass if anyone wants to pitch in a few bucks to help with upcoming major expenses I can't afford: ko-fi.com/atomicthumbs

where the fuck did the oil escape from is what I'd like to know. there's no milkshake in the oil pan but there's no oil either

probably gonna need a new engine considering the circumstances and how it behaved (lost power, saw smoke/steam in the mirror, moments later the oil pressure light came on and braking effort increased as I was pulling off the road, no coolant in reservoir and oil below dipstick)

upcoming/current expenses include: diagnosis, repair if I'm lucky and new engine if I'm not (still cheaper than another car and I just had the front suspension rebuilt and 2 new tires put on it), car rental to get home and get partner to SFO, motel, moving car Reno -> Bay Area somehow

ohhhhh my car.......... my poor car.......... woe is car i dropped it off at a Volvo mechanic in Reno last night, got all my partner and I's stuff out, and now we're at a motel. now i need to figure out how to get a rental car to take from reno to the bay area without bankrupting myself

yes, and yes, it's part of the radiator. there's oil all over the front of the engine bay so that's high on the suspect list

I was thinking an oil line popped but i don't know how that would happen at the same time it lost coolant. unless your radiator has got a big rock shaped hole in it now

dude that's exactly what happened to my V70 too. was just redlining it plowing up a hill next to my house and then BANG a piston just shattered to pieces, I check the oil and it's just completely bone dry. 0 signs of leaking anywhere all of it just disappeared

and then I'm pretty sure the oil got sprayed out of both sides of the head once it overheated enough for the cam seals to blow out

The magic smoke is gone! If the oil is gone and you can't find it anywhere then the most likely cause is a piston ring. RIP :(
