Why did they choose to immediately make Amazon “hostile political enemy” when an alternate take could have been to view disclosure as (e.g.) “this is not supply chain related supply-demand inflation but related to tariff negotiations.” That kind of spin. Must have recently sniffed out disloyalty.

Uh hard to be cheap, yup. Even a factory build or expansion is difficult to finance in the US as the build (with, uh, materials from all over the tariffed world, but I digress) is more costly that the land value on which non-dilutive bank financing can take a lien. 100 other issues follow that one.

Customers would likely embrace the disclosure of the tariff cost on their sales invoices. It is short-sighted to view the move as hostile. Such disclosure might actually encourage customers to seek out products that have low or zero tariffs, thereby increasing the sale of items sourced in the U.S.

If a $10 item with free shipping and disclosed local taxes suddenly costs $25 with no explained reason, seems like a lot of people would stop using the service due to undisclosed unreasonable cost increases.

When I order from Amazon in Canada they always show me the duties payable on shipment. Duties is another word for tariffs. Its the honest thing to do which is why I’m surprised Amazon is doing it
