The so called "middle class" lifestyle was not freely given. It was the result of a massive labor movement, the CIO, which shook the foundations of the economy in the 1930s/40s. That movement won a decent, dignified standard of living. FDR merely had the sense to follow along.

One thing that made the workers earn more was unionizing. Union wages were the standard everybody else competed with. People need to unionize more. And stop voting for trickle down, it doesn't. Our votes give Republicans the power to dismantle the middle class.

The middle class needs to be protected and expanded. The middle class makes the bright shining beacon on the hill possible. As part of this, those in poverty need to be given, increased education, opportunity and assistance to help themselves. This includes the ignorant meth addicted Maga’s.

I believe the middle class happened as a direct result of the Great Depression. Massive political changes brought Dems & their working class constituents to power. From 33 to 53 they made positive changes. Better pay, more power to unions, etc. Can that go too far? Sure but now it’s flipped around.

The been has always been a middle class, but it was not composed of workers. It was the businessman right below the aristocracy. The shopkeepers. The fact that the working class in the US after World War II was unusually affluent, did not make them a middle class in the historical sense.

The middle=a buffer zone. It looked down on poor & kept chasing after rich. THeyd never stand with the have nots & they didn’t want to risk what they had/HOPED to have. But when you lump all of the non billionaires together, watch out; the rich are ONE PERCENT. That now leaves 99% to come for you

All improvements in the lives of the Western working class during the 20th century were driven by just two factors: 1. (indirectly) The need to increase production speed or quality. 2. (directly) The fear of a communist revolution. 💅

They’ve miscalculated their power. There are about 3400 billionaires and 8.3 billion peasants. They will not win and if they fight they may lose everything potentially even their lives. Note: I am not threatening anyone but I do understand history

Revolution was sparked by and funded by oligarchs (white, property owning males who spoke English). The govt was set up to put and keep them in power. They constantly fight to claw that back whenever a shred of it is ceded. You buy into the mythology of freedom, liberty and equal democracy. Woke yet

The Cold War officially ran from 1945 to 1991. What's being dismantled are the reforms of Capitalism coming out of the Great Depression commonly known as the New Deal. Many of the institutions and regulatory frameworks that give workers rights and provide social protections stem from that era.

Except now they are going to fund the government through tariffs (which are taxes on working people) along with income taxes on working people while the capitalists pay nothing.

State legislatures were often controlled by a single industry, e.g. railroads in California. The economy bounced between boom and bust as the Capitalists skimmed all the profits and workers had to fend for themselves when laid off or injured. There was no unemployment insurance nor workers comp.

In others words the 1% had freedom to treat workers as near slaves, have them work in hazardous conditions, fire them at will, and discard them when they became too injured, too frail, or too old to do the work. And they could have the gov't send armed troops to quell any worker protests.

Fun fact - China's middle class is bigger than the entire US population. Wonder what enemy they're fighting. And I don't mean to dispute the notion that an educated middle class in the USA is the last thing the billionaire class wants existing here. decodingthedragon.substack.com/p/ch14-how-c...

decodingthedragon.substack.com#14: How China's Middle Class Grew So Big? And What's Next?Imagine this: A group larger than the entire U.S. population, wielding economic power that has reshaped global markets.

I also think they’re having so many highly trained killers in the general population made governments afraid of their people. A useful thing.

Communism is the new buzz word they're using now to scare the American voters. These wild conspiracies coming from within the GOP is sinister, it is a tactic used to scare Americans. Right now, this is a psychological warfare aimed at those who are weak-minded easily persuaded through propaganda.

Communism's failure was internal. The current demise of the middle class is the result of a failure to see that the entire control systems organizing humanity are now incompatible with the modern world. We need to build new systems.

Good old disagreement by censorship. You know those old adages about following the crowd that no one pays attention to? Someday someone is going to substitute crowd for algorithm and be hailed as wise - right before they are ignored.

While I would argue that the whole thing is shot and too outdated to work in the modern world, I'm also more than happy to argue many solutions as standalone. True guilds and "domim" can work whether they are then used to replace existing national infrastructure completely or not.

This is where I confess I need to look into it and think about it more. I feel like a lot of the blame would fall on the shoulders of those moderating between the ruling and the ruled, but would have to bend my mind more in that direction to complete my thought.

Yet they will still hold that emptiness that cannot be filled. They may end up as feudal but they will still not be satisfied and as there will be nothing more for them to take, that emptiness will increase and with it their madness will grow.

The middle class was created to keep people happier. If it wasn’t done the people were going to hunt the oligarchs down with torches and pitchforks. FDR created the new deal because things were getting to be like they are now. The difference is technology and they had better survival skills then.

This flimsy theory falls apart when you take even a cursory look at today's political landscape. Communist/socialist politicians are surging nationwide. Try again.

They want us as serfs and slaves to do their Dirty Work while they sail off into the Sunset on their Yachts W/bags of our Money ⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️💰⛴️

Grand Wizard Plantation Masters have had enough of the “Middle Class Experiment”.They want everyone (99.99%) back on the plantation/gulag.

Back to zero days without needing the moment one of the ‘innovators’ accidentally told us what they’re really afraid of. Hint: It’s not circle jerking to guillotine memes.

I just came from a very disheartening visit with my relatives. They were talking about their fear of communism. I just stopped the conversation. It breaks my heart that they are swallowing all this propaganda.

”capitalism requires a middle class to be a buffer between the upper class & the working class, facilitating consumption and economic stability. The middle class plays a crucial role in driving demand for goods and services, which is essential for a capitalist economy to thrive.” FAFO coming.

Yeah, P2025 is designed to take us back to the 1920's-30's, when we had no safety net, no regulations to speak of. White men ruled over everyone and Oligarchs and poor houses were the norm. people sold their children and ate flour soup. They want their own fiefdoms to rule over like Kings.

This is what I've been saying for years - or at least muttering under my breath as I totter and slobber all about the parish, although not this succinctly. I imagine Marxists would say - with their usual eloquence - this as the inevitable proletarianization of the bourgeoisie, but
