The other night I was sitting outside on my deck a little after it got dark, enjoying the night air and the solar lights in the backyard, and then something WHAPPED me real hard in the side of the head and I look over and its a goddamn firefly and it woozily flies off and starts puffing and glowing

I grew up in an area that has so many fireflies, you can literally walk aroun and see on an overcast night, but moved to a place that has none. I took for granted how special it was to be able to enjoy that experience for most of my life. This is touching.

XKCD's humorous observations are what make it great. The sentimental observations like this though are what make me really love it. And I think that's the most beautiful panel you've ever done, awed at how far you pushed the artstyle.

There’s a tucked away spot in my nightly run that has a delightful overabundance of fireflies. It’s like entering a magical fairyland every time. Indescribably breathtaking. ✨
