I'm sure I recall a simple device from Popular Mechanics or Popular Science that was a Maxwell's Demon demonstrator. Pressurized air entered the center of a T shaped tube. The tube was tapered, and warmer air exited one end, while cooler air exited the other. How MUCH warmer or cooler was not clear.

Maxwell's Demon is a dilemma in thermodynamics. The demon let's only fast molecules in one side & therefore separates the fast (=high temperature) from the slow (=low temperature) molecules, which leads to heating of one chamber & cooling of the other. This violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

You're welcome. Understanding such nerdy jokes is the only benefit that I have from my thermodynamics lectures 😅

(Or in another version, let's them only enter one chamber, but never the other, which will also increase the temperature in the more and more crowded chamber. Truely devilish👹)

Honestly, they might be into it. You are bored after years sitting in this room. There's a door. You can leave. But if the next room is worse, you can never come back to the boring room and you'll be stuck being tortured eternally and knowing it's your fault.

Good to see you here, Randall. I caught you once at CNU where you spoke of kites and ball pits (& someone had a sign that said "if this were Conway's GoL, we'd be dead next turn). It's always a pleasure
