That's not really what alt text is meant to be for. It's meant to be for those who cannot see the comic. Alt text shouldn't give anything that the image does not.

At least put it in the alt text with the rest of the alt text.

That's why I follow @xkcd-titletext.bsky.social. It posts the alt text as a reply to these shortly after they're posted. So I usually get both at once by the time I see the xkcd post.
