ok so here's the @assignedmedia.org AI memes crashout summary i guess AUG 2024: riki wilchins, long standing trans activist, joins AM as contributor to post monthly interview articles DEC 2024: riki wilchins starts crossposting their linked trans news media articles to both their own feed and AM's

OCT 2026: riki wilchins posts some facebook AI slop meme that's both a transphobic joke and also red scare propaganda, to both feeds. AM lead @evanurquhart.bsky.social is unfortunately absent, the meme post gets negative traction, and the situation spirals

from what i can tell, evan isn't paid for this nor is he paying for it. riki donated AM $250 one time in 2024 which he publicly disclosed and thanked for. nothing else at a glance this is just a case of giving editorial control of the feed to someone who wasn't vetting content. or was and badly

the sky is not falling, the last faint hope of trans journalism hasn't collapsed upon its sword, all evan has to do is log on, remove the post, explain what happened and apologize for allowing riki to violate his site's own AI policy. if you blocked AM over this you should probably undo that.
