i don't see this as a gimmick, just a creative and whimisical way to blend together the outside world and a work of art, to integrate life and movement into a static canvas. But yeah, one of the beauties of art is that we can all view, feel it, live it differently.

It's a Gimmick. Whether it's an effective gimmick or not is up to the viewer. I'm genuinely happy you get something meaningful from it. I did not. But that's the nature of art, I guess. : )
