I often see people fantasize of pre-internet days where everyone was super social and living grand lives outdoors. I hate to tell you that's just the movie version--we were mostly sitting alone inside watching not-good TV for hours on end. Like... 7 hours of TV a day. Maybe more.

City? I grew up rural, we were fairly free range. Backyard football, bike down to the old quarry, catch crawdads in the creek, the whole bit.

Wasn't anything good on TV during the day though, just soap operas. We probably ran around less during the school year, but summer break you had to kill time until the afternoon cartoons. Then you were good until the news came on. Unless you had cable, I suppose.
