if you're ok with LLMs helping cancer researchers, coding with AI to make a website is fine making generated art slop is still bad

I am seeing designers embrace AI, but not artists. Saying that the artists I have met hate AI is an understatement. If I were a digital artist, I would either embrace AI or pivot to physical media like oil on canvas or marble sculpting.

in this i mean that llms are a tool and multiplier, especially with complicated problems like research and engineering, where tedious or feasibly impossible tasks can be delegated writing and art are for people who have something to say, and therefore generating it loses its value to me

Serious, good faith counter: the ability to create a website [or xyz other software or automation, system, etc] holds unlimited potential financial value and economic success and opens up new avenues of class mobility, resulting in the saving of countless lives

would this not be applicable to jobs in general? Producing any kind of product holds financial value which can end up saving someone's life. We have seen this so I don't doubt it's possible. But saying that a car manufacturer "saves lives" because some cars are ambulances seems disingenuous

On the "class mobility" part, and this is fully dependent on what economic classes we're talking about, it doesn't seem to me like this occurs often enough to say that "SWE is associated with class mobility".
