2025 Topps Shoebox Legends Paint Splatter variation #/15. timwallach.blogspot.com/2026/10/2025...

@olbermann.bsky.social can you post the Larsen photos here? Checked his stats, 14 homers, probably could have been an equally mediocre hitter.

Normally I don’t worry about condition, but came across a chance to upgrade my ‘53 Campy at a price I couldn’t ignore. (Upgrade on the left)

Sterlin Thompson ends the season as the PCL On-Base Percentage leader with an insane .475 on the year. Reached 4 of 5 times yesterday in the season finale with a homer. Not sure what the Rockies are doing leaving him in Albuquerque.

Knocked a few more off of my ‘54 need list.

Zac Veen of the Rockies, my daughter’s favorite player from his time in Albuquerque, was nice enough to sign for her and give her a ball at the Tigers game yesterday. She was thrilled.

the clock is expired and nobody has touched the ball. this is ridiculous!

Added this pretty sweet copy of one of my all-time favorite cards, the ‘77 Topps Andre Dawson rookie.

Joc Pederson is closing in on 250 career home runs. Now in his 13th season, he’s never had 500 at-bats in a season. Pure cowardice of managers to never let him bat against lefties regularly.

Captcha asked me to "click on the hats," then showed me a hand held mirror reflecting a hat. I shouldn't have to re-read Plato's Republic to log into my account.

Googled “Hassan Piker,” to learn he’s just a podcaster? What is the big deal, I mean, besides he’s listed at 6’4”?

What a joke. Teams that were sellers and sit under .500 in the playoff race? Go back to two divisions and no “wild cards.”

Added a ‘62 Mays, a card I’ve wanted for years but never found at the right price. Probably my favorite Mays card Topps ever produced.

This strikes me as bad. But what do I know as a member of the public who also depends on clean air & water to survive?

2025 Shoebox Treasures "Paint Splatter" auto, numbered to 15. Spoiler, the "paint splatter" is actual paint. timwallach.blogspot.com/2026/08/2025...

I read DC comics from about age 9-14 religiously. Picked up Absolute Batman b/c the buzz had me curious, and holy shit, it sucked out loud. Absolute Trash. Like Spider-Man 2099, but dumber. What am I missing, because this was a complete waste of time and money. Just a lame else worlds books.

Strange to feel sorry for my in-laws who are die hard fans of the 2 time defending World Series champions and looking at a 3rd, but here we are. They’re really struggling with their fandom at the moment.

Added my first Topps Ted Williams card from his playing days.

Picked this up on a whim recently while buying other cards from a seller on eBay. This was the first GPK I ever pulled from a pack.

Added a “Tom” LaSorda to my slow burning ‘54 Topps build.

That’s a good one

Nicely broken in ‘56 Ernie Banks

Pair of Gil Hodges I needed for their respective sets

Brent Suter for the win.

Guess I haven’t watched a game at the new Tiger Stadium in awhile, what is going on with those ridiculous new seats behind home plate? Totally obnoxious.

A rare completed page in my ‘59 binder.

Reigning MVP’s starting off the ‘61 set.

Picked up another one of these ‘61 Fleer cards. Have always had a soft spot for these. As a kid they were some of my favorite cards in what survived of my father’s collection, and have been slowly filling out the set over the years.

I think this is what NYC must have felt like during the events seen in the documentary Ghostbusters

Another recent addition. ‘59 Topps NL Hitting Kings

Sterlin Thompson’s habit of robbing homers also came up from Albuquerque. www.mlb.com/gameday/8240...

Picked up a ‘63 Lou Brock. Little off-centered, but I like having a card of him with the Cubs.

Filled out an All-Star game ballot. I doubt Sterlin Thompson makes the finalist for outfield, but I did my part.

If the playoffs started today, would Seattle be the 1 or 3 seed in the wild card round under this current “nba, half the league makes the playoffs” set up mlb is using?
