This. I'm perfectly comfortable taking anyone who uses Gen AI off the artistic roll call forever, because I have so much real art I'm yet to see.

Honestly, if this is the end of culture and AI floods every creative medium so thoroughly that it all just dies, it will suck but there’s already more movies in my watchlist than I have years left in my life. Books already written. Songs already recorded. Games I haven’t yet played. I’ll survive.

I do have quite a lot of horror films on 4K where I've seen the film, but not put the 4K disc in yet, so that's going to be my run up to Halloween - some cool 4K revisits that I've not done before.

Silence of the Lambs is as great as ever, and the 4K looks very good, I will say it's not the revelation some shot on film titles are though. The detail is very crisp and deep, but there's not MUCH it has over the BR to my memory.

The Maria Bamford doc on Netflix couldn't be more basic in form, but it has benefit of being about someone who is both extremely engaging and absolutely fucking hilarious. If you know her comedy there's nothing new, but hopefully it gets more people to check out her work.

On the one hand, having a band that (at least in the UK) feels largely like my own little secret is great. On the other, I really want more people to hear Glim Spanky - the band deserve it - and more people that I can talk about them and other similarly great J Rock bands with.

Given the Bioware news, I've resumed my Mass Effect 2 playthrough. (Female Sheperd, Paragon track, Soldier class, carried over from my ME 1 playthrough). I'd got stuck on one particular mission, probably given it 10 goes. Nailed it first time today. I'm 24hrs in overall, so I've got a full team...

...I spent about 60hrs in the first game, did LOADS, but didn't see everything (even mission wise, let alone other options) and this seems even more expansive. I'm looking forward to digging in properly again.

Having recently finished Dragon Age the Veilguard and Mass Effect, I'm very disappointed to hear the Bioware news. I've been wanting to play more of their games.

Can't believe that, in my continuing exploration of J Rock, I haven't done a deep dive on Shiina Ringo yet. Definitely need to fix that. Can anyone suggest a starting point?

I've said it before, but there really is not a single bad picture of Meiko Kaji. So great to see her being celebrated like this, she's such a rare screen actor; able to hold your attention from anywhere in frame just with a gaze. You can't teach that.

Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子) was at the Sitges Film Festival this weekend to receive the prestigious Woman In Fan award! 📽️ #filmsky 🎥 #japanesefilm

I've been starting an abandoning quite a few horror movies lately. I'll do some, including a first watch of Sinners, on Halloween itself, but just haven't been feeling it as a marathon (the new to me stuff this year hasn't been much cop on the whole), so I'm just going to do random viewing instead

I need to move an NHS appointment. Left a message on Saturday asking them to call back. Nothing yesterday. Called at 9:30am today. Got an answer, immediately put on hold. 5 minutes on hold 'Can I call you back in 2 minutes?' 'Of course'. Here I am over a fucking hour later. No call....

Correcting this, because Door has a sequel (oops) 7: Tourist Trap 6: Malignant 5: Tenebrae 4: The Final Girls 3: Edge of Sanity 2: Blood and Black Lace 1: Peeping Tom

Before I listen to the @screendrafts.bsky.social episode. My Top 7 solo slashers 7: Malignant 6: Door 5: Tenebrae 4: The Final Girls 3: Edge of Sanity 2: Blood and Black Lace 1: Peeping Tom

I left off Black Christmas (74) and April Fool's Day (86), due to their remakes, but if we count those, knock off Door and Malignant.

Frank Sinatra film The Detective is based on a novel with the same lead character as Die Hard. An actor named Lloyd Bochner plays a major supporting role in The Detective. His son, Hart Bochner, is Ellis in Die Hard.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

What am I buying? The best screening room I can. What am I doing? Starting a Blu Ray label

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

It genuinely makes me emotional to see so many more people get to see this masterpiece as it should be seen. I saw this cut twice on film at BFI, the second time with a Q and A with most the surviving main cast. There's NOTHING like it.

Heatherface Wixson@thehorrorchick.bsky.social

Seeing the Director’s Cut of THE DEVILS on the big screen in a theater packed with strangers tonight was legitimately one of the most transcendent moviegoing experiences I’ve ever had in my adult life. Tonight was special and I am so lucky that I got to experience this.

I try not to be hyperbolic without reason, so believe me if you've not seen it when I say this is one of the greatest films ever made, and you owe it to yourself to experience the full force of it on screen. I've seen this cut twice before. It's the definitive version of a true masterpiece.

😈 It's The Devil's Day, HOORAY 😈

This is brilliant news. The PCC is an institution, a true place for cinephiles, and has some of the best programming in rep cinema. Long may it reign.

I have lots of films that I've not watched in my collection, but also lots I love, but haven't seen for ages, in pursuit of the next new thing. I think, after Halloween, I will do more revisits, rewatch faves and rework my Top 200 Films list. If only because I need to find the passion for it again.

I know a lot of people were weirded out that the MCU's Aunt May was hot, but it's definitely weirder that Pamela Voorhees is gorgeous. [I met Linda Cardellini once, as beautiful as she is in pictures, you have no idea how good looking she is in person]

We are just two days away from the return of the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise and Peacock has opened up the official gallery featuring over 40 brand new images from the prequel television series: bloody-disgusting.com/tv/3971619/c...

Considering that they just did the Channel 4 ADHD thing, I'll just wait for the God Awful Movies episode.

The only original song on the Band Maiko EP (the rest are reinterpreted versions of existing Band Maid songs). I'd love to see them do this again, but Gion Cho is still one of their greats.

This might be a smaller platform, but that works for me. I'm a very small fish here, but the only reason I ever wish for more reach is so that I could give more exposure to the JRock bands I talk about. (Look up Atozome on Youtube).

So, they're releasing four films, telling parts of the same story, across four weeks in the same month. How is this not just TV in public?
