Here are my thoughts on each of the Avatar Graphic Novels I've read. With how incredible The Last Airbender is, my expectations are really high. I'll try my best though to keep an open mind.

Just finished watching the new batch of Avatar Seven Havens episodes. The emotional core of this story has hit me harder than Book 1 of ATLA and TLOK. Pavi, Nisha, and Jae's relationships and struggles have pulled at my heart so much. Episode 6 especially got me teary eyed. Good ass show.

American politicians doing something good? Wonder how long this will last.

It seems like he is only directing the last couple weeks, and will still be in communication with Matt Reeves. Nothing to freak out about, although I really hope Matt's family is doing ok.

3 episodes into Avatar Seven Havens and I am already fully invested in this story and characters. Pavi is now my child. I have adopted her. I love her so much. I want 10000 plushies of her. She is baby.

The fall of Xbox needs to be studied and shared with the entire gaming community for generations. So many horrendous decisions over so many years by some of the dumbass executives in the entire industry, and the only people punished for it are developers.

Man reading this is giving me heartburn. Hundreds punished for this mismanagement of others, and those who aren't cut are being told to do the impossible if they want to stay employed.

Ruins of the Empire 9/10 Honestly the comic I was the most interesting in reading out of the postshow content. I was really curious to see how the Earth Kingdom would transition into democracy. The political themes (unfortunately) haven't aged a day, and might be even more relevant today.

Mystery of Penquan Island 7/10 As a certified Mako hater, I surprised liked this story a lot. I actually wish I was longer. More specifically, I really enjoyed learning more about his mother and I desperately want to see more. The present day story is fun, but not as interesting.

Been updating my Avatar Graphic Novel Thread with The Legend of Korra content. I believe I have one more to read and then I'm ready for Seven Havens.

Let's include The Legend of Korra comics as well Kya and the Secret of the Sand 8/10 The best part of was seeing Kya comfort Korra. As someone recovering from an injury, I can't help but feel for Korra. The actual story was fine, but Kiku Hughes's original pitch would have been more interesting.

I'm honestly shocked at how indept Turf War has been about Queerness in the Avatar Universe so far. It makes me shocked that a story about Kya uncovering the ancient history was declined. What were they scared of? To be honest, this just makes me dislike Secret of the Sand. I wanna give it a 6/10

Anyway, Turf War 10/10 Jesus Christ this book was fantastic. This almost feels essential to read after the final episode of TLOK. Obviously, I adore Korra and Asami's relationship, but I also love Varrick and Zhu Li's and the Turf War itself. Required reading for any Korra fan.

Hey so I just started reading Turf War and uh what the fuck? Not only does Korra acting surprised Kya is queer directly contradicts Secrets of the Sand, this entire conversation showcases a lot the author wanted to write about. Seriously what the fuck was Nick on about?

I'm nearing the end of The Legend of Korra Book 3 and I'm honestly shocked at how much I am enjoying this show. I at least expect to have mixed thoughts, but beside for 2 episodes, this show has ranged from solid to FUCKING PEAK.

Jet: Rebels and Rhinos 8/10 In my opinion, a very necessary story to tell. Jet's episode in Book 1 was honestly one of the weakest, and I think this is a much better introduction to his character. My biggest criticism though is how The Rhinos where written to feel less threatening here than in TLA

Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy 10/10 This might be my favorite of the graphic novels. Toph was already one of my favorite characters, but seeing her take on a teaching role and trying to create a save haven for lost benders really spoke to me. She's no longer one of. She IS my favorite.

Last but not least The Bounty Hunter and the Tea Brewer 9/10 Honestly the only reason I'm not giving this a 10 is because I think I've been handing them out too much. I didn't expect June and Iroh's stories to overlap so well, but they absolutely do. A fantastic pairing and a fantastic story.

Ashes of the Academy 10/10 I love Zuko, Kiyi, and Mai so fucking much. I also feel passionate about the themes expressed in this story. Seeing Mai in particular find new purpose in her life while dismantling the traditions of the fire nation was perfection. This honestly might be my favorite comic.

Imbalance 10/10 EASILY the best out of the Graphic Novel trilogies. It beautifully showcases the growing maturity of Team Avatar while also setting up the conflicts in Legend of Korra. I'm really glad I read through these comics before watching LOK. I'm very hyped to finally watch that show

North and South 8.5/10 The last Gurihiru novel and a pretty good one to end off on. I've found the political messaging of these comics to be the best part, and the conflict between the north and south pole here has been the most interesting to me. I wish it had a more solid ending, but still great

Azula in the Spirit Temple 10/10 These comics have completely turned my opinion on Azula around. I initially saw her as a one dimension villain, but now I see a victim of the Fire Nation's cycle of abuse. The last author's note perfectly explains why this comic and Azula as a whole are fantastic.

What? It's just an ordinary Dragon Ball Super Beerus Trail- OH MY GOODNESS So we're going to at least the Champa arc apparently.

I also love how much this book and the previous dive into the spirit world and the many beings it has. One of the Avatar's main jobs is to keep balance between the human and spirit world. Now that the human world has started to heal, it makes sense to focus on the spirit. (2/2)

Smoke and Shadow 8/10 To be honest I found the main plot a bit weak, especially the drama between Mei and Zuko, however the B plot with Ursa was absolutely fantastic. She's becoming easily the best part of these comics for me. Also any moment between Zuko and Kiyi is peak. I love them so much

The Search 9/10 MUCH better. It feels like the original creators had much more input in the story this time. Ursa's back story adds so much to the greater story of Avatar, as well as Zuko and Azula's specifically. The ending did get me emotional. My only issue is one scene with Aang getting upset.

The Rift 9/10 I was sad Toph wasn't in the last novel, but this completely makes up for it. Her relationship with her parents was one of the biggest loose ends from the show I was upset never got resolved. This novel only addresses her dad, but still I am really happy we got anything at all. (1/2)

Made a dedicated thread for my reviews of the Avatar Graphic Novels. I'm tempted to do something similar for the shorter stories, but there are just too many. I'm gonna start reading "The Rift" now and I'll make sure to update this with my thoughts when I'm done.

Suki, Alone 10/10 Speaking of Suki, holy fucking shit her solo story is incredible. Dare I say this might be "essential reading" for the show. This story is both heartbreaking and inspirational. It makes everything that happens in The Boiling Rock have even more emotional impact. 1000% recommend

The Promise 5/10 I had a lot of hope for the first post show story. While some of the ideas are interesting, Zuko, Katara, Roku, and even Aang are written frustratingly out of character. I am shocked at how poorly the writer of this book understood the show's ending. At least Toph is incredible

Katara and the Pirate’s Silver 8/10 Not a very significant addition to the story, but it was a really fun read. Katara herself was fantastic, but I also love the new pirates introduced. Any chance this worlds has to add moral complexity to factions or archetypes is always appreciated.

The Kyoshi Warriors 8/10 *Technically* not a graphic novel, but fuck it. I will take any chance I can to get more Suki content. She is such a great character that aadly didn't get much time in the show. This story in particular serves as a great transition from book 1's themes to book 2.
