Let's leave the corporate presenteeism of the 1900s behind. We need smarter work, better health, and progress we can genuinely feel in our day-to-day lives. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

The 5-day, 40-hour work week was standardised a century ago. Almost everything else has sped up dramatically since then - automation, robotics, computers, the internet, emails - so why are we still plodding along on Henry Ford’s schedule? It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

When workers have time to rest, exercise, and find some balance, absence rates drop and well-being soars. A 4-day week is a serious health strategy that can benefit the individual, the organisation, and the economy as a whole. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

The 4-day week is a global phenomenon. 🌎 “This has been proposed in the United States in the 1920s and ’30s, and it almost passed and became law, right? So if people thought it could work then, it could still work now.” - Anirban Acharya Ph.D., Le Moyne College

Very exciting to see Lambeth pushing ahead with their 4-day week trial. The UK is leading the way on this, with 1 Council (South Cambs) already on a hugely successful 4-day week. It’s high time we had another!

The 4-day week is a global phenomenon. 🌍 “The mechanics are simple: employees are required to work 32 hours a week but are paid as if for 40 — the remaining eight hours are paid as a day off.”

The UK has: 1,000,000 NEETs 1,000,000 Early Retirees 2,700,000 People out of work for health reasons We need a working week that is sustainable for the long-term. One that doesn’t grind us down and force us out. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

We all know South Cambs District Council's 4-day week works. What Local Authority Leaders need to know now is: How did they do it? What was the impact? and How can we do it too? To answer those questions, we’ve condensed all the key data into one brand-new, easy-to-read document. Read it below ⬇️

Nobody on their deathbed ever wished they spent more time with their spreadsheets. We all need more time for our families, our friends, and our lives outside work. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

Parents with young children experience higher rates of burnout. A 4-day week gives working parents a chance to find some balance without sacrificing their income, or their career. If we want a society where parents can function, then it’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

Advances in technology have made us exponentially more productive over the last 100 years. These productivity gains should buy back time, not just stack more tasks. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

Chronic stress destroys creativity and decision-making. That’s bad for workers 𝘢𝘯𝘥 employers. Giving workers a shorter working week produces clearer minds and fewer costly errors. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

“At a time when artificial intelligence and robotics will radically transform our economy, it is imperative that the financial gains from this new technology benefit working families, not just a handful of billionaires and corporate CEOs” - Sen. Bernie Sanders

It’s an equity issue. The 4-day week can reduce childcare costs, spread domestic labour, and help caregivers and disabled people manage full-time work more easily. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

Flexible working is useful, but without reduced hours it’s just doing your job in your downtime and answering emails in bed. Flexible AND reduced hours are where the true benefits lie. It’s time for a flexible 4-day week. ⏰

Wired - it’s a Bank Holiday! Tired - Next one’s not till Christmas. 😮‍💨 Inspired - we should have an extra day off EVERY week. (and some people already do - it’s called a 4-day week and it’s time we all had one!)

This is where 3 hours sleep and a 7-day work week gets you. PM - it’s time for a 4-day week.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi says she felt “lonely” after staff got rid of a cockroach living in her home

We got rid of the 6-day week 100 years ago. Now, it’s time to ditch the 5-day week.
