I really loved Alan Moore's "I Hear a New World" (the second book in his new Long London series). The first book "The Great When" was good, but the followup is genuinely great.

I hate that every day of this presidency feels like waiting for the results of a biopsy. Just pacing back and forth in your kitchen waiting for the bad news.

There are no shortage of reasons to be incandescent with rage today. The one that I cannot pry from my teeth is how fast the ghouls on my Nextdoor coalesced around the lie that Renee Good was trying to hurt someone. How do we live with these people?

It took zero effort to get them to believe that a woman with a glove compartment full of stuffed animals was a domestic terrorist. ICE gunned down an innocent woman in broad daylight in front of witnesses with cameras and they looked straight at it and chose the lie.

Just saw a guy at the train station toss his coffee cup into the garbage and fully miss, turn around to pick it up and take a second shot, miss again from inches away and return a third time to carefully place it in the can. This man is a role model.

So if you opt out of gmail's AI slop it redirects all your junk mail back into your main inbox (despite that filtering feature predating AI by years). This feels like a particularly aggressive form of enshittification. Anyone have any recommendations for good alternative email services?

The theme for this October for me is going to be fan art (I want to practice drawing more people and characters) and I'm starting with @rudetales.bsky.social. I suspect a lot of the fan art is going to end up being of podcasts now that I think about it. #fanart #inkdrawing #rudetalesofmagic

I wanted to share some additional album art that I did for Dan Arwady's "Place That I Know Well". This one was fun and has a lot of little details to find. #watercolor #illustration #albumart #isometric

Can I, as a grown ass man and professional, wear cargo shorts? Because with my jacket pockets now gone as the weather warms up, it occurs to me how useful cargo shorts would be.

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave. Tell them: 1. Vote NO on Cloture AND 2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill. Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it. TODAY is the showdown. 🤳🏽: (202) 224-3121

5. A space movie that gets super surreal and confusing by the end. 4. Unironically Marvel movies. 3. A whimsical fantasy where adults reconnect with their inner child. 2. Animation with a narrow story scope but loving attention to visual detail. 1. A mystery with a spooky twist.

I feel bad for whoever is in charge of moderating Nextdoor this week. So many racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic, and transphobic comments for them to do nothing about. That's gotta be tough work.

Dragon Village. Drawn in pen and colored with #watercolor. Experimenting with using #glaze and #nightshade on #illustration work. I don't see any noticeable artifacts.

I tried combining colored pencil and watercolor for this #fanart for the #hellofromthemagictavern podcast. I think I fit close to 100 characters in this image. #art

Another page from last year's #sketchbook. Aiming for a more #children'sbook vibe with this one. Still drawn in pen and colored in #watercolor. #art

Here is a little #streetscene with a #coffee shop and a #bookstore and a #bakery and some other stuff. I'm playing around with cross section scenes.

Painted the interior of a #cozy little roadside inn at night. Taverns in #fantasy novels are always interesting places. Drawn in pen and colored with #watercolor.

This scene was done in pen and colored in #watercolor. It's not technically in #isometric perspective, but it's pretty close (and 1:2 is much easier to lay out with a ruler).

Another page from last year's sketchbook. An #isometric view of a little downtown scene with lots of hidden details. Drawn in pen and colored in #watercolor.

You are up to date.
