Ann Arbor residents complaining about parking for 90 years. This driver would feel right at home on NextDoor in 2024. Amazing how this city survived with such a perpetual lack of parking. #a2council

I tried to drive directly through downtown looking for street parking at 730 on a friday night before game day and had to wait a whole light cycle to turn onto main. My only conclusion: there are too many pedestrians downtown #a2council

Lots of people blocking the box and creeping into occupied crosswalks at Main and Liberty this evening in Ann Arbor. I’d love if the city could do a driver education campaign with some targeted enforcement. #A2Council #AnnArbor

Me rushing to yell at staff when my landlord friends tell me about the new bike lane they plan to knock my house down to build #a2council

TRAFFIC | #a2council Mayor Christopher Taylor is alleged to have been driving the vehicle that crashed into Lowertown Cafe in #AnnArbor. "He was aiming for the Anson Brown building but missed," claims witness in a top hat.

Smells like our own reconfigure #a2council

OakDOT had prepared a safety project for this intersection years ago that matched the design from further north on Lakeside, but Fire Department forced a redesign to keep as a multi-lane road If the project had not been redesigned and delayed then it is possible our neighbor would be alive today

This is spot on. Lack of will among Democratic politicians to fundamentally change transportation policy away from car dependence implicitly means they also don't have a meaningful aspiration of fixing the housing crisis. Also means that they're at best largely posturing about affordability.

The point is that progressive leadership does not tend to result in progressive transportation policy. If groups that want the outcomes that progressives claim to care about then they need to dial up the pressure for real actions. bethosbornesga.substack.com/p/electing-p...

One of my pet peeves in life when people say a song is a Halloween song when it objectively is not a Halloween song. So I am going to go through Spotify's Halloween playlist for this year and rate how Halloween these songs are. This is not how good the song is, just how Halloween it is

Overhearing parents talk about not feeling comfortable letting their kids walk to school because of the roads. Meanwhile, "real residents" fighting tooth and nail against making roads next to schools safer because they might have to spend 10 more minutes in the car. #a2council

Halloween is coming. You don’t have to go to a “trunk-or-treat” event in Seattle! You can close your neighborhood street to through-traffic – for free! Trick-or-Streets permits are free and easy to get. Join here: seattle.gov/transportation/trick-or-streets

New literature review on housing ladder spillovers: When rich tech workers move in, low-end rents go up. So does it follow that adding high-end homes would reduce them? Yes. Changes at the top of the ladder can propagate down and affect prices at the bottom. 1/

Happy to see policy makers taking lessons from international cities doing good city things rather than just comparing to less bad American cities
