I don't understand when a platform advertises that you can deploy an app to production in "minutes, not hours". Like, isn't that just that should be normal

There used to be a new npm package every few minutes. Now it's a vscode fork that calls Anthropic

AI won’t replace developers. The job will become catching up with the latest paper, product, framework, tool etc. One day every project will be famous for 15 minutes.

I think it was @kelseyhightower.com who said something like “learning Kubernetes isn’t like learning a framework, it’s like learning Linux.” This is true in my experience, and if you’re self hosting you’re already starting on the Arch BYO-everything route.

We have a whole generation of developers that have never and will never need to know what a load balancer is, or why they have to run their code with host 0.0.0.0.

"Only" 15 years later, the concept of a "server room" and "sys admin" feel so dated. Most places deploy to the cloud - massive server rooms, somewhere else. The small server rooms, and managing your own servers / knowing the person who does it: a thing of the past.

Crazy how in school, kids could make you feel bad about literally anything. Like, you could get bullied for paying attention in class.

It would be pretty 5 head for BlueSky to give out a bunch of invites to people now that the new Twitter CEO was announced, IMO

We went to a new-ish restaurant (6 months) last night and every time the chef brought us a player of food, there was a light in his eyes that must be the secret ingredient.

You are up to date.
