biggest recommendation: buy some drywipe whiteboard pens even if you don't have a whiteboard so many surfaces in a house can be written on with them - and they'll wipe off no problem! for example: i've just put cleaning product in the toilet so wrote on the top of the toilet seat "use the other loo"
