The IMF is full of sh*t. Note: the IMF did not tell oil and gas producers, and wolrd governments, to cap oil and gas prices. Secondly, the IMF says deficits are debt. That's a lie. They tell it to create unemployment and debt for those less well off. www.theguardian.com/business/liv...

This is great news. And I'm especially encouraged by learning they didn't just sell to the highest bidder.
Great news: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is not going to be shuttering after all, thanks to a new buyer. (And apparently not the highest bidder, but the best for our local journalism.) I hope we'll see a day when newspapers don't have this precarity, but for now, a win. www.wtae.com/article/pitt...

It's funny how military hawks always pick on welfare as the reason why their budgets aren't big enough. They never look inwards and question whether their own incompetence might be an issue. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Well he is on the right but it sounds like is going to go after Orban's corruption, reform the voting system that was tilted in Orban's favour, move away from Putin and towards the EU & stop the harassment of the LGBTQ+ community. So a definite improvement & step forward. bsky.app/profile/adam...
Péter Magyar victory speech: "We want to make a country where no one is persecuted because they think differently or because someone loves in a different way to others." He may not have campaigned as a liberal. But this is a huge change of direction and rhetoric from Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ+ crusade.

Hungary’s prime minister is more important to Donald Trump than all of his voters put together, than all Americans, than America itself, and it’s not even close. I wrote an essay yesterday to explain why: snyder.substack.com/p/the-hungar...
Trump: “My Admin stands ready to use full Economic Might of US to strengthen Hungary’s Economy, as we have done for our Great Allies in the past, if PM Orbán and the Hungarian People ever need it. We are excited to invest in future Prosperity that will be generated by Orbán’s continued Leadership!”

One step further: it should be unthinkable that we would register people for the draft without first making sure that they are registered to vote. And indeed: it makes no sense generally to hold elections without making every effort to make it as easy as possible to vote! That’s what democracies do.

@blueskies.bsky.social Your spell check appears ... selective. Why? I note that when making comments about Russa, options for corrections decrease.

Hilarious. UK gov bans the lunatic on the basis that his presence would 'pose a threat to public safety'. So what do Musk, Zuckerberg, Thiel, Karp, Trump, let alone the private equity companies screwing us 7 days a week, represent? The teddy bears' picnic? www.theguardian.com/music/2026/a...

Private equity controls our lives from the cradle to the grave. Profiteers from hospitals, nurseries, housing, care homes, undertakers. Business model - high prices, low staffing/wages, high debt, asset-stripping, tax abuse. Life commodified & financialised. Profits for the few, misery for many.
My MP, a Labour Minister, refuses to countenance bringing water companies back into some form of public ownership. Instead, she believes more regulations are the answer. Delusional. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
