🚨RM21-14 is on the #FERC agenda for next Thursday. #FERC has the opportunity to lift the ill-conceived opt-out provision in O719 and fully unleash demand response resources across the MISO/SPP footprint by allowing aggregators to fully participate in the wholesale market. 🙏

In her testimony #FERC Chairwoman Swett said, several times, that a third of consumer bills come from rates overseen by FERC. Has anybody (can anybody) break this down with more granularity? #energysky

This could have been stood up through FERC’s OPP. In fact, numerous groups encouraged this in their comments regarding the creation of that office. If this is so important, why didn’t he just do it? He had every opportunity as Chair…

It is not only a problem of delays related to turbine production, but there are additional delays layered on top of that, including labor shortages and specialized materials delays as well.

"Turbine manufacturers... Delivery times have doubled in the last year or so; a turbine order placed now won’t be delivered until at least 2028, and the line is getting longer every day. Prices are also spiking — up threefold in the last few years..." www.semafor.com/article/03/1...

With the Campbell 202c order, DOE is attempting to make RMR-like decisions that are unwarranted. DOE cites NERC’s summer assessment report as support, but even MISO, its market monitor, and at least one of its member states (Wisconsin PUC) think that the report lacks merit.

Hey Utility Dive, do states like Illinois and Michigan, who oppose this horribly misguided escapade, not exist? Great to see a bipartisan group of former FERC commissioners agreeing with a Earthjustice’s position in opposing ERAS. #EnergySky www.utilitydive.com/news/miso-fe...

@rtoinsider.bsky.social needs to do better here. Not a single quote from a clean energy trade or clean energy advocate. MISO’s ERAS proposal is a fast track for gas. That’s it. That’s the ballgame here. Yet, it’s implicitly framed as fuel neutral. It is not. www.rtoinsider.com/99896-miso-q...

Lots of talk at the opening “Mutual Assistance” General Session at #NARUC about increasing storm frequency and intensity…yet, not a single panelist has managed to conjure the strength to mention the words “climate change.”

Oh, hell no.

Former FERC chair Chatterjee shares his view on this podcast that clean energy advocates should accept a gas-powered data center boom out of patriotism, i.e., winning Big Tech's race with China for AI domination. Are folks ready to toss overboard the quest for a stable climate for this project?

Chair Christie is taking a very limited view of the effects of this EO. Consultation is already common practice on major issues. He says that EO would only align FERC-DOJ legal opinions on major SCOTUS-level cases, and wouldn't prevent Commissioners from dissenting on major orders.

Hey #energysky lawyer friends, what does it mean for FERC that the White House has issued an EO to make independent agencies, well, not independent? Seems to me like if you have to do an RRI or an ERAs proposal, as an ISO you are admitting a) your capacity market is broken, b) your interconnection process is broken, or c) both

Rather than a laser like focus on the existing queues, RTO/ISOs are creating untenable separate queue jumping studies (PJM/RRI, MISO/ERAS, SPP/ERAS). It is a PROBLEM.

On January 24 Voltus filed a Section 206 complaint against MISO (EL25-52). "Voltus asked FERC to deem MISO’s stricter testing and contractual requirements unenforceable because they stand to affect rates and had not been filed with FERC for approval." #EnergySky www.rtoinsider.com/96627-voltus...
