I'm just a writer, looking for a reason. Also—cinephile, book lover, dog mom. Just trying to make it from one day to the next. She/her. Letterboxd: boxd.it/4Vmb7

A doctor asking me how many drinks I have on an average week... There is no such thing as an "average week". I may go 9 months with no drinks, then pick up the habit of having a glass of wine every night. And I'm like that about everything. My life is a collection of phases strung together.

Halfway through my favorite quirky double feature. Dopesick (2021) and The Fall of The House of Usher (2023). I switch up the order, but I almost always watch them back to back—one makes me want to see the other. #filmsky

Dopesick (2021)—a fictionalized depiction of the true story of the Sackler family, and how their steering of the drug OxyContin on behalf of Purdue Pharma spawned the opioid epidemic in America. An engaging and heartbreaking portrayal of the greed of corporate America, and its victims.

The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)—a horrorization of the same. Imagining that a family so evil as to build its fortune on addiction and death must be aided by some supernatural force, who eventually and rightly returns to deliver the entirety of that family their comeuppance. If only.

Did you know if you're ordering in the Taco Bell app, there are ZERO drink options that are both sugar-free and caffeine-free? AND it won't let you choose water as a drink? It's been this way for years and every time I order I want to scream.

My emotionally abusive ex set me as his death beneficiary because I agreed to take in his dog if anything ever happened to him (even if we'd broken up). The dog has passed away now, but sometimes I fantasize that he never changed his paperwork and someday I'll just be gifted a 100k.

Last night I scrolled my entire BlueSky profile and read every post I've made since the beginning. A lot of them had no interaction—no likes, no comments—but I'm glad I posted them. They're a neat little window into my thoughts.

Ambien was working well for me a few weeks ago. But now it's just making me dizzy and incredibly nauseous. And everything else that helps me sleep gives me restless legs. I hate my body.

Want to hear about a good corporation? I contacted Chewy to see if I could return an injectible medication I got for my dog who just passed. It was a 2 vial product and I'd only given her 2 doses. Even though the order was back in March, they gave me their condolences and refunded the entire thing.

I lost my baby girl Kali last night, at the age of 14. She had a long life of love and adventure, and was happy and active til the end. She went peacefully, holding my hand. Kali was a special soul who did so much for me, and I'll always be grateful for the time I had with her.

I'm so tired of the enshittification of autocorrect. Lately it doesn't fix obvious typos, all it does is change the correct word to a different correct word, or worse, some incorrect nonsense. (It actually* INTRODUCES spelling errors now!) *case in point, it just changed this to "actualpy"

Sports fans always do the O Captain, My Captain thing when their team captain scores, but how many realize that poem is actually about Abraham Lincoln's assassination? Read a full poem, people.* *this post is in jest, and I don't actually think this is an issue. But be aware, friends. 😜

Does it annoy the shit out of anyone else when the announcer says "the VGK"? It's the same number of syllables to call them by their frickin' name. I agree their name is stupid, but "the VGK" sounds even dumber. #SoundtheSiren

No Walgreens, I will NOT be coming to pick up the Rx that you refilled WITHOUT my request (after I already turned OFF autorefill) until the one I DID request that is BACK ORDERED is ready. Your pharmacy is 15 miles away, and I leave my house once a week. Stop texting me about it.

There comes a time every playoffs where I can't take it anymore and I have to mute the announcers. That time was the 3rd period last night. Listened to music instead. And then something lovely happened... 😁 I really wish we could turn off commentary and listen to in-arena sounds. #SoundtheSiren

The past few months I can barely get out of bed, or take care of myself. My yard needs mowing. I know this. But the threatening letter from my HOA just makes everything harder. I'll tell you what, if I ever hit the escape key, I'm sending a lovely email to my HOA first.

Nights when I decide to drink wine are tricky. Bc it might trigger a migraine. But if it doesn't, it's fun! Unless I drink too much or too fast and feel sick. Or quit too early; then I'll be restless when trying to sleep. It really is complicated math. Not always up for it.

I had a dream last night that the Hurricanes put me out on the powerplay, but I didn't have any skates on, so I wasn't very helpful, and I was SO EMBARRASSED. #SoundtheSiren #LetsGoCanes

BUT WAIT I actually just remembered that I got a flukey goal for the first goal of the game and the reactions from the players and coaches was like "well, we'll take it I guess." They still weren't impressed with me.
