Not the best birder. Definitely not the best photographer. Usually in Central Park, but will travel for Timberdoodles! If you follow and repost a photo, I'll see you and follow back.

A family of Ravens is putting the goth back in gothic at NYC's largest cathedral--St John the Divine. There are five mouths to feed, so the parents are staying busy! ⛪️⛪️⛪️ #Ravens #Cathedral #birding

It's always a thrill when the Golden-crowned Kinglets pass through Central Park. Just when fall migration is winding down, they come through in droves. I spotted several this morning along the edge of Central Park's Nursery. 😍😍😍 #Kinglets #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Some days you have to find the birds and some days the birds find you--like this handsome Red-bellied Woodpecker that was obsessed with this tree knot just overhead. Did I say, 'handsome'? 🥰🥰🥰 #Woodpecker #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I've been seeing more Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers in Central Park, but hadn't gotten many clear views--until today! Look at this absolute stunner! 😍😍😍 #Sapsucker #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I rescued an injured one of these from deep in a large grove of lilacs in front of our house. Bushes old and big enough that as a 6-year-old I could move through it by slightly bending over. I was quite sad when mom said we had to release it days later when it was much better.

So why did the Cooper's Hawk wait outside the Bloomingdale library so early in the morning, you ask? It wanted to read The Last of the Mohicans obviously! 😂😂😂 #Hawks #birdsseenin2026

I think Northern Cardinals possess the most beautiful shade of red! Does anything else come close? ❤️❤️❤️ #Cardinals #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Hadn't seen much this morning in Central Park until this Red-bellied Woodpecker appeared at the grassy knoll. I managed to get one shot as it peeled away--but it was worth the effort! What a magnificent bird! 😍😍😍 #woodpeckers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Central Park is flooded suddenly with Ruby-crowned Kinglets. I captured one fluttering like a hummingbird by a clump of asters. A few years ago I had never heard of a kinglet! 👑👑👑 #Kinglet #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I'm always excited when I start seeing more Northern Cardinals in Central Park. Here's a stunner posing on a fence with hints of fall in the background. 🥰🥰🥰 #Cardinals #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

One think I love about photography is how it enable you to see tiny details that are essentially invisible with the naked eye. Look at how beautiful the markings are on this magnificent Northern Flicker! ❤️❤️❤️ #Flicker #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I was heading home from Central Park, thinking I was done with birding for the day. Nope! This cute little Black and White Warbler was hopping along a fence on West 100th St. Never stop birding! 😎😎😎 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Some may remember the young Red-tailed Hawk I posted on October 13th trying to land on a fence in Central Park. Well, it stuck the landing but balancing was a challenge--so it hopped over to a handrail! 😂😂😂 #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I was photographing this Red-tailed Hawk just after sunrise this morning and suddenly its wings turned golden. I think I gasped as I glimpsed it through my lens. ☀️☀️☀️ #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Just when I thought fall migration was beginning to wind down, a Black-throated Green Warbler flitted into view just over my head in Central Park. First one I've seen this fall! 💚🖤💛 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I was incredibly entertained by this young Red-tailed Hawk in Central Park this morning as it hunted (unsuccessfully) in a patch of wildflowers. Here it was attempting a landing on a fence better suited for sparrows! 😂😂😂 #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

One day in August I ran into a Great Egret under Central Park's Huddlestone Arch. It was no more than ten feet from the path--but didn't seem to mind passersby or their dogs! 😎😎😎 #Egret #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

American Golfinches loooove cone flower seeds! I spotted this one in Central Park's Wildflower Meadow. 💛🖤💛 #Goldfinch #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I never get tired hummingbirds! I hope you don't mind me sharing this photo of Ruby-throated Hummingbird that visited Central Park's Conservatory Garden! 🩷🩷🩷 #Hummingbird #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I've photographed many, many Northern Flickers, but I've never taken one quite like this. It swooped down and foraged no more than fifteen from me! 🥰🥰🥰 #Flickers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Ran into a little gaggle of Palm Warblers in Central Park this morning and caught this one dancing along a fence. This little one is on its way from Canada to the Caribbean or even Central America! 🌴🌴🌴 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Yes, autumn is on its way. Another beautiful October morning highlighted by a young Red-tailed Hawk perched atop a street light. Just a few trees are beginning to flaunt fall colors. 🍁🍁🍁 #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I was just about to leave Central Park's Grassy Knoll this morning, when I heard a Northern Flicker calling to me. Of course, I turned around and there he was! 🥰🥰🥰 #Flicker #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I've seen some beautiful Common Yellowthroats this fall, but none more striking than this handsome male on the edge of Central Park's Harlem Meer! 💛🖤💛 #Yellowthroat #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Very happy to see more Red-bellied Woodpeckers coming through Central Park. With any luck, some will stay for the winter! 🥰🥰🥰 #Woodpeckers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Central Park's Barred Owl hasn't been seen in the last couple of days. I hope it hasn't left--I'd love to watch it hunting again! 🦉🦉🦉 #Owls #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I happened upon a Solitary Sandpiper on the edge of the Central Park Pool. Often people tell me my photos look like a painting--this time I agree! This may be one of my favorite all-time photos. 🥰🥰🥰 #Sandpiper #CentralPark #birdcpp

A Ruby-throated Hummingbird completely ignored me in Central Park's Conservatory Garden as it pushed deep into a purple salvia blossom. I was able to get a nice series as it pulled out and then stared me down! 😂😂😂 #Hummingbird #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Caught our young Great Blue Heron hopping around the Harlem Meer this week. I was happy to hear another birder saw it catching a fish! 🐟🐟🐟 #Herons #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I kept a close eye on this Common Yellowthroat in Central Park's Wildflower Meadow, hoping it would light on a patch of goldenrod. Happily, it obliged! 💛🖤💛 #Yellowthroat #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

After a weekend of rain I was determined to spend time in Central Park this morning, despite the continuing drizzle. I was rewarded with several Ruby-throated Hummingbirds in the Conservatory Garden. This was my favorite shot! ❤️❤️❤️ #Hummingbirds #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I spotted a lovely little Palm Warbler perching on a Nutter's Battery branch this week. Stopped by Central Park on its way south from Canada to Florida/Caribbean. Safe travels! 🥰🥰🥰 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

This Great Blue Heron was describing how big the fish he nearly caught in Central Park's Loch! 😂 But, seriously, that wingspan! 🩶💙🩶 #Herons #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I realized when I saw this stunning Red-bellied Woodpecker that I hadn't seen many recently. Curious what other Central Park birders have experienced. 🥰🥰🥰 #Woodpeckers #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I captured Central Park's Barred Owl hunting in the Ramble last week. In this shot it was blinking (definitely not sleeping). While this image is dark, it was considerably harder to see with the naked eye! #Owls #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

Often my photographs in Central Park make it easy to forget it's in the middle of Manhattan. This series of a young Red-tailed Hawk shows a different side as the hawk launches off a light pole, strafes a garbage truck and zips across the road. 🌆🌆🌆 #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

It continues to amaze me how hummingbirds can just fly in place! This Ruby-throated Hummingbird seemed to be sizing up its approach to the purple salvia in Central Park's Conservatory Garden. 🥰🥰🥰 #Hummingbirds #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I'm happy to report I'm seeing Ruby-throated Hummingbirds more often in Central Park's Conservatory Garden. This one was deep into some purple Salvia! 💜💜💜 #Hummingbird #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

I spotted this young Red-tailed Hawk swerving off the top of Nutter's Battery in Central Park this week. Grateful to see so many passing through the park as they head south! 🥰🥰🥰 #Hawks #CentralPark #birdsseenin2026

The Central Park Conservancy has done a wonderful job planting native species and wildflowers throughout the park. The Monarch Butteflies definitely appreciate it! 🦋🦋🦋 #Monarch #CentralPark #butterflies
