Our latest blog looks at how Delaware’s probation system intersects with social determinants of health, and how a more person-first approach could help people successfully rebuild their lives instead of creating more barriers to reentry.

⛓️‍💥 Probation should be a path toward stability, not a trap back into incarceration. Read the full blog post by ACLU-DE Policy & Advocacy Intern, Jasmyn Moore: 🔗 #LinkInBio

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced organizer to support and expand the capacity of our voting rights work! They'll build on the #EveryVoteCounts campaign, organizing engagements with the public across the state, communicating key voting rights and campaign developments, and more.

📣 Whether you are at work, in your vehicle, or at home, understanding your rights is one of the most powerful ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community. Navigating interactions with immigration agents can feel overwhelming, but always remember that you have rights.

Being prepared is your greatest power. Regardless of your immigration status, you have guaranteed rights under the Constitution. Share this post with your neighbors to make sure that everyone is prepared if confronted by ICE agents.

For information on local legal resources, how to create an emergency plan, and what to do if ICE comes to your door, forces their way into your home, stops you in a public place, pulls you over, or arrests you or a loved one, visit the #LinkInBio and look for “Know Your Rights.”

The Delaware Supreme Court upheld our state’s permanent absentee voting law, keeping an accessible pathway to the ballot open for eligible Delaware voters. ACLU-DE joined CLASI, the League of Women Voters of Delaware, and The Arc of Delaware in filing a joint amicus brief in the case.

Earlier today, we took this fight to the Delaware Supreme Court. 🗽 In what has become a nationally watched case, ACLU-DE v. Town of Fenwick Island, we’re arguing that voting is for the people, not corporations. 🗳️

Fenwick Island currently allows corporations, LLCs, trusts, and other artificial entities to vote in its municipal elections. We believe that undermines the fundamental principle of one person, one vote. We’ll keep you posted as this case moves forward. For more: 🔗 www.aclu-de.org/cases/aclude...

#ConstitutionDay is a reminder that the Constitution remains the law of the land, and We the People remain steadfast in our determination to defend our hard-won rights from those who would try to deny them.

🚨In a MASSIVE data privacy win, Gov. Meyer has signed HB 145 into law, making Delaware the first state in the nation to enact a near BAN on reverse keyword warrants! 📣

HB 94 in particular provides important protections at schools, daycares, and other child-serving entities by limiting when state and local law enforcement can assist with federal immigration enforcement. Just in time for back-to-school season! 🚌

🚨 They said no. We took them to court. We won. ✊️ The Delaware Supreme Court ruled that Delaware State Police must make key public records available including information about current officers’ names, ranks, salaries, and individualized demographics. ⚖️ 🗽 1/2

For families who lost loved ones to police violence, accountability should not require years of protests, lawsuits, and unanswered questions. Delawareans deserve far more transparency & accountability. The next wave of police reform starts w/ knowing where candidates stand. Lives depend on it. 1/2

🚨 Police officers wearing body cameras is meant to increase public trust and transparency, but the cameras are only as helpful as the policies that govern their use. 📸 Without a clear public right to access body camera footage, these cameras risk becoming just another police surveillance device.

✉️ Today, the ACLU of Delaware, alongside multiple community partner organizations, sent a letter to Delaware’s elected officials and candidates urging them to make body camera transparency a priority in their public safety platforms. 🔗 Read the full letter: #LinkInBio
