I posted this photo on here last year, but it vanished somehow. My father on his Triumph Thunderbird, early 1950s. I'm not sure of the location -- he was in Chicago, Portland, Oregon, and other places in those times. #analogphotography #blackandwhitephotography #negative #motorcycle #triumph

A photo I took; a partial view of President Bill Clinton, and crowds, Portland State University campus; Tuesday, 27 June, 1995. At some point, he circulated past the perimeter of the crowd, shaking hands; I just missed his grasp. #analogphotography #billclinton #negative #oregon #portland

These photos are an experiment. I often have dreams about being on a subway platform, but the trains never stop, so I can’t board them. These photos were an attempt to capture the mood of those dreams. #streetphotography #streetphotographer #photography

A photo of me (with Muggins the cat, who was perched on the top of the loveseat), by Marc Myers; circa March, 1986. The 1960s-style amulet, and Nehru jacket, were decided anachronisms... #analogphotography #cat #guitar #nehrujacket #oregon

Another follow-up on Lee Marvin: Drawing on the Dwayne Epstein biography, I learned that Lee's great-uncle was Ross Marvin, who died under murky circumstances on one of Admiral Peary's arctic expeditions (the second one he'd been on)... That is one hardcore family.

A 1973 article by Brad Steiger, on paranormal experiences and premonitions by actor Lee Marvin and his family. Per the item, his father served in WWI. Astoundingly, he reenlisted in WWII, where he barely escaped (through a premonitory event) a German V-2 strike; which killed hundreds. #leemarvin

And Brad Steiger wasn't exactly 100% reliable. I did find a 1981 interview with Lee Marvin, in The Orlando Sentinel, in which he at least confirmed his father's service in both World Wars:

This episode does not appear in Lee Marvin: Point Blank, a 2013 biography by Dwayne Epstein. Lee Marvin, however, did mention his father's WWII service, which he said "ruined" him, in a 1981 interview. The final few sentences of the article mentioned Lee Marvin's head hurt worse than his back!

Here's a picture of me (and doppelganger) from August, 1986; on Benefit Street, Providence, Rhode Island; on a visit, on a cross-USA trip. A couple years ago, I ran the original image through a mirror filter... #analogphotography #double #providence #rhodeisland

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; 19 October, 2026. I recall this midcentury-design, Space Age needle-like steeple and church drawing my gaze, when I was living not far away, at the age of three or four. #midcentury #oregon

"Stephen Crane, Called the 'Aubrey Beardsley of Poetry.'" From a (mixed, mostly unfavorable) review of Stephen Crane's symbolist-style, proto-surrealist collection of poetry, The Black Riders and Other Lines. In The San Francisco Chronicle, 27 June, 1895. Via newspapers. com. #poetry #stephencrane

A photo I took; at a poetry reading (by The Unbearables) /event, on the Brooklyn Bridge, 13 Sep., 1994. I ended up hanging out for a while with the guy (J. Silva) in the red shirt- we had grappa and cheesecake at a diner. #analogphotography #brooklynbridge #newyorkcity #poetry #streetphotography

A slide photo, from the collection of the great-uncle (in the USN) of M. Reed. The location was probably Kamakura, Japan; circa 1960. #35mm #35mmfilm #analogphotography #japan #slidephoto

After digging online a bit, I found that the bridge might have been the one known as Akabashi, or "Red Bridge." (source: japan-guide. com); although these days, it's generally off-limits.

A photo of Mt. St. Helens, Spirit Lake, and surroundings; circa 1975. My mom was probably the photographer. We went on various family trips to the area, before the 1980 eruption (and after it as well...). #analogphotography #mtsthelens #negative #pacificnorthwest #washingtonstate

A detail from a photo of my father (in the white tshirt), great-aunt Magda, her husband (I think), a woman I don't recognize, and my grandfather. The location was probably the Oregon coast; circa early 1950s. #analogphotography #blackandwhitephotography #negative
