Fuck DHH and his middling-ass vibeslopped Linux fuckshit.

I can’t believe they are throwing away decades of goodwill over Omarchy. Omarchy! Come on! It’s dotfiles in a trenchcoat. Literally I use Arch and btw, I’m a racist

While we’re at it - Riot intentionally screwed both me and my partner over with respect to relocation. Continuing to promise support for our transition to Washington up until the day before my last day…when we signed the lease and paid the $6k in deposits + first month’s rent.

Keep in mind, three days prior the manager provided full rental references, agreed to provide access to a practically undocumented application required to reimburse expenses, etc.

The only thing preventing us from pursuing Riot is my first year being remote employment in Texas. We’re California law applied, they would be in clear violation of section 970, liable for double damages, and worse.

I left Riot Games. While I have signed a severance agreement, I can talk about “harassment or workplace violations” that occurred, so in short order: - New team refused to use correct pronouns - Absentee manager for two months - Verbal and text workplace abuse

Long story short, Riot Games was for the first six months one of the most incredible places I’ve worked. For the latter six it was one of the absolute worst and most toxic.

I learned a lot both halves, but most importantly to be incredibly wary of teams eager to slot you into “first of kin roles without proper support.

Twice this year I’ve learned (the hard way) about getting shot in the ass by poor management. MAN does it make me want to be sour, but I’m also too stubborn to let it get me down.

FUCK YEAH LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!!

Democratic Socialists of America@demsocialists.bsky.social

Another Democratic Socialist is going to Congress! Congratulations to DSA member @melatkirosco.bsky.social! Congresswoman Kiros will take the fight for a better world to D.C: to Abolish ICE, free Palestine, and win Universal Childcare and Medicare for All.

Every time some CEO brings up AI I’m going to just start asking them about artificial insemination and I’m 99.999% sure it’ll get them to finally shut the fuck up about it.

It’s not just that I don’t feel good enough, it’s that I’m tired of being told I’m good - and if I could just Jumbotron if b two or three more arbitrary hoops better I might achieve glorious success and recognition.

I used to be excited to work in tech, but this entire decade has left an increasingly sour taste in my mouth about a field that sees obsessed with making everyone not born into or blessed with immeasurable wealth disposable.

I genuinely enjoyed reading this. I have additional thoughts on the loop. 1. Rapid feedback and iteration necessitates not just observability but fundamentally different test tooling that treats test as simulation, not box checking.

I've come to view the entire DevOps movement as a mighty, twenty-year battle to achieve one thing: a single feedback loop connecting devs with prod. It failed, but not for lack of trying. It failed because the technology wasn't good enough. And now it is. www.honeycomb.io/blog/you-had...

4. The tooling needs to facilitate more than rapid scaling of linear happy paths - it needs to be able to ingest and utilize past metrics around usage patterns, traffic levels, etc.

More than anything, it needs to feel actually *nice to use*. So much of observability tooling and test tooling *still* has gnarly, very sharp edges.

2. Such tooling needs to be “write once, scale anywhere”. The simulation needs to scale and work whether running on an engineer’s laptop or a sophisticated multi-region deployment.

3. The results and insight need to be dimension rich but carefully selected, customizable by engineers to gather the information *they* need to act, and work with/enhance standards like OTel.

We take care of us. It really is that simple.

Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isn’t protesting. More accurate terms: - observers - witnesses - volunteers - neighbors - residents - people

We are so, so very fucking beyond just abolishing.

Seeing lots of variations of we should abolish “Trump’s ICE” or “this kind of ICE” from elected representatives. No, the whole concept is bogus. It was always based on propaganda about immigration. It’s an authoritarian dream based on a fiction.

I am tired of watching this government order innocent, good people.

Same party that was “absolutely for trans rights” then not a day after they lost in 2024 blamed trans people.

Oh cool So the Dems have moved from memeing Putin and Trump as gay lovers to Clinton and Trump as gay lovers, the punchline always being that gay men are gross. Dems not do homophobia challenge when it suits them: level impossible.

This was the start. Mamdani’s absolute victory over a Dem *and* GOP backed shitstain of a candidate like Cuomo is the first step of many we need to make to build an actual progressive party. A party truly for and of the people.

Y’all just want diet Republican and it shows every fucking time.

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇

I’ve had these moments. I’ve kept them for me and a few others where I made clear I needed to vent. The way we get through this is together and by believing things can, will, and must be better.

Here’s the thing about having a platform: your words carry weight. The things you say have unseen effects on others, and can change the trajectory of somebody’s day or life. This is a responsibility, and at some point it becomes irresponsible not to keep some thoughts to yourself or the group chat

My “early-ish” adopter experience with Python 3.14 is…a mixture of profound disappointment and frustration. Lots of stuff is just *broken* with little to no actionable solution.

The annotation changes break non-Pydantic libraries like msgspec, sub interpreters are cool in theory but have massive incompatibility issues with everything from numpy to Pydantic, there’s notable and unexplained 10-20% performance drops across the board.

This feels very, *very* undercooked. New Python version have always had some teething issues, but this is the first time that a release just feels outright unusable and broken. It’s disappointing to say the least.
