I'm old enough to remember when the name "Benedict Arnold" was so synonymous with being a traitor to the United States that it was lobbed as an epithet. There's a new epitome of a perpetrator of crimes against the USA.

I am old enough to be deeply troubled by how inured and desensitized we have become to mass school shootings. Columbine rocked us to our core. It was huge. Parkland and Sandy Hook were big deals. The Bend shooting is giving "just another Thursday." We have to DO something. It's long overdue.

There will come a time when we give due process to the people who worked so hard to deny others due process. And we will convict them of treason and murder and fraud and a billion other things and then we will be able to start to rebuild a better nation. But only then.
