Having too much fun with my army of agents, implementing things left and right, so no new articles, sorry. I'm doing things, not writing about them these days πŸ˜… I do, however, have a new talk: "Don't Fight Hallucinations. Make Them Impossible" at AI Engineer Sydney in December

Finally gave the Advanced React website a fresh new look, aligned with the blog. 🎨 Who's here still reading actual books? Feels like a good excuse for a discount on some advanced React knowledge πŸ˜‰ 30% off for the next two weeks πŸ’Έ www.advanced-react.com

advanced-react.comAdvanced React by Nadia Makarevich: Deep Dives, Patterns & PerformanceThe advanced React book. 16 chapters and 105 interactive examples on how React really works, from re-renders and reconciliation to refs and performance. 4.8β˜… on Amazon, 4,500+ developers.

Although I'm even more convinced now in my original statement: only a very experienced developer like Mark can actually guide that robo-invasion to victory without them falling off a cliff 😜. Original investigation: www.developerway.com/posts/debugg...

developerway.comDebugging with AI: Can It Replace an Experienced Developer? Can AI actually debug complex React/Next.js issues? I tested it on three real bugs, investigated the root cause myself and wrote down the results.

For books/blogs it's even worse πŸ˜… Ask me how I know...

I’ve spoken to a few course creators now, and we’re all seeing the same trend. Revenue down 50%+. Fewer people engaging with our content. People switching to LLMs, which slurp up all of our work and regurgitate it, without consent or compensation. It feels pretty bleak. πŸ˜…

Been processing an unreasonable amount of information on everything AI-related lately, here's the result ☺️ Ever wondered why your clever chat and code assistants are so dumb sometimes? I'm on a mission to answer that with research and data! www.developerway.com/posts/how-ai...

developerway.comHow AI Remembers and Why It Forgets: Part 1. The Context ProblemHow does AI actually remember things between messages, and why does it forget halfway through? I ran a few experiments on Claude Sonnet and GPT-5 and wrote down what I saw.

I'm running 30% off both my books for those who still read real books! πŸ’Έ Interested in learning the fundamentals of React and Web performance? Don't miss out! Real humans writing real books is a rarity these days πŸ˜… πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Can AI replace an experienced developer at debugging? To find out, I built an app with three real bugs, threw them at LLM, and then investigated the root cause myself πŸ˜… #react #nextjs #frontend www.developerway.com/posts/debugg...

The article includes: - What Server Actions actually are under the hood. - Common arguments for and against using them for fetching. - A performance experiment on a semi-real use case. - A definitive answer (not "it depends", I promise).

Who's ready for another investigative deep dive? πŸ•΅πŸ»β€β™€οΈ If you've ever been frustrated by how much JavaScript your React app ships, here's a step-by-step guide on investigating and fixing it πŸ’ͺ🏼 As usual, easy to read and lots of hands-on examples. www.developerway.com/posts/bundle...

developerway.comBundle Size Investigation: A Step-by-Step Guide to Shrinking Your JavaScriptA practical guide to analyzing and reducing JavaScript bundle size. Learn bundle analysis, fix tree-shaking issues, remove duplicate libraries, and otherwise optimize your React app's JavaScript size.

Launching a 30% discount on my books "Advanced React" & "Web Performance Fundamentals" starting now! Perfect time to level up your React & Web Perf skills πŸ’ͺ🏼 There is also a secret code to turn it into 50% if there is a need πŸ˜‰ Look for it in the FAQ section of the websites πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

React Server Components: do they improve performance or make it worse? If your answer is β€œI’ve no idea πŸ˜…,” I wrote a deep-dive to answer that! Experiments and real numbers, CSR vs SSR vs RSC, same app + test setup. Focus: initial load + data fetching. www.developerway.com/posts/react-...

Another much-requested article for you! If you're confused on which state management solution you should use (Redux, Zustand, Context, etc.,) I've got you covered πŸ˜‰ If you have a different opinion on the topic, please share! Would love to compare notes ☺️ www.developerway.com/posts/react-...

I tried really hard to deliver pretty advanced content in such a way that it's simple and easy to understand, while trying to avoid talking down to the readers as if they were children. Looks like it worked 😊 To quote a reviewer: "Like a talk with a colleague in simple words and on topic".

While you're reading, I'm off to write a sequel: what's the difference between Context, Redux, Zustand, and how to choose the best state management these days. In the meantime, the **WEBPERF30** discount on both of my books still works and will be till the end of the month!

If you go with Amazon, please, please, please leave a review afterwards! Amazon takes more than 70% of what you pay, so the only reason for authors to publish there is for discoverability. And every review is a huge boost for that!

Quick reminder: my new book is available for purchase, and the 30% launch discount code (**WEBPERF30**) is still valid! Even better, it's also valid for the first book, in case you'd like a complete set. Links πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

This is happening and pretty soon! The new book is coming, final polish in progress. In the meantime, which title do you like best? "Beyond Re-renders Web Performance Fundamentals for React Developers" "Web Performance Fundamentals Profile & Optimize React Web Apps" πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Core target audience: middle to senior React developers who want to deepen their knowledge and tap into web performance. Secondary target audience: any frontend developer interested in web performance who doesn't mind dealing with React on occasion.

The rationaleπŸ‘‡πŸΌ The book is all about _web performance_: how to investigate, measure, and understand it. 70% of the book has nothing to do with React itself: it's about fundamental web knowledge applicable to any web app, SPA or not. So I'd like to avoid "React" in the title.

Nevertheless, all examples are written in React, some of the aspects are deeply intertwined with React's specifics (like SSR), and some of them are purely React specifics, like React Server Components. So, keeping "React" somewhere in the subtitle seems fair.

The article includes: * Why Tailwind vs Linaria comparison, and what makes them different. * How are those differences reflected in the size of the assets and initial load/interactions. * The definitive answer on what to choose for your next project - Tailwind or Linaria πŸ˜
