Preparedness has to be driven nationally but much of it delivered locally. Today I asked the Minister how he is ensuring Local Resilience Forums are properly funded and whether he can guarantee every part of the UK has a local resilience plan.

This death toll should be treated as the national scandal it is. An estimated 4,354 people have died in UK heatwaves since June. The Government has yet to explain how, or what it will do to be ready before next summer.

That means a national Heat Resilience Strategy, led from the Cabinet Office with clear ministerial accountability, so hospitals, care homes, housing and transport are better prepared.

This death toll should be treated as the national scandal it is. An estimated 4,354 people have died in UK heatwaves since June. The Government has yet to explain how, or what it will do to be ready before next summer.

The Government did too little in the run-up to a summer we all knew would likely be intensely hot. Given the scale of the deaths and the pressure on our health and social care services, it must explain how this happened and what concrete steps it is taking.

My cat Bella's reign as Purr Minister continues. Thanks to Battersea for dropping in her award at the conference earlier this month. I'm pleased to support Battersea's campaigns to improve welfare for companion animals including ending the breeding of extreme traits in dogs and cats.

Due to the Super El Niño, forecasters are warning of a stormier and wetter winter for the UK. I’ve asked the Minister how she is working across government to ensure preparedness for flooding risks this winter is stepped up to keep our communities safe.

Since my first few months in Parliament, I’ve raised the conditions these penguins are forced to live in, just a few minutes’ walk from Parliament. As a nation of animal lovers, this goes against the values we hold dear.

This decision didn’t happen in a vacuum. It came after sustained campaigning from organisations, and I want to give special thanks to Steph Spyro for her sterling work in repeatedly bringing attention to these conditions.

Deeply irresponsible decision. After a summer of intense heat driven by climate breakdown, this Labour Government has put fossil fuel profits ahead of lower bills. Jackdaw won't cut bills or secure our energy future. It just locks us into a doom loop of fossil fuel dependence.

bbc.co.ukUK government approves Jackdaw gas field, and says production will start this month - follow liveThe government says the approval will "heat millions of homes and protect hundreds of jobs". Green Party leader Zack Polanski calls it "climate vandalism".

Water privatisation has been a disaster. I’m glad to see the Prime Minister urging officials to come up with more radical options for Thames Water. We need to bring water into public ownership urgently, and this Government must properly invest in our infrastructure.

Delighted to celebrate the extension and refurbishment of Bungay Medical Practice NHS Norfolk and Suffolk ICB, Bungay Medical Practice, and East Suffolk Council have worked tirelessly, transforming the practice into a modern, accessible, and sustainable place for patients, staff and the community.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a powerful reminder of the urgency of the nature emergency, biodiversity loss and climate change. Over the last few months, communities up and down the country have put on screenings.

I was honoured to be invited by Stradbroke and Harleston to attend both of their screenings, and to join them for a discussion on the film and my work in Parliament fighting for these issues.

Great to visit Fressingfield Shed to see the great work they do bringing people together. It’s a place to learn new skills, have a chat and share experience. It is a brilliant example of our fantastic community initiatives here in Waveney Valley.

These spaces were traditionally called Men's Sheds, but Fressingfield uses a different name. I met women and men of different ages who really value what it brings to the community.

Projects like this keep residents connected, which is so important for wellbeing and mental health. Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to make it happen, and to all the members who made me so welcome.

Three years on, we all remember the horrific events of October 7 and the wave of destruction in Gaza that has followed it. I reiterate my call for an end to the violence, for peace and safety for both Israelis and Palestinians.

I am deeply saddened the ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion has passed. It doesn't reflect Green principles or my own view. The Green Party has long supported the principle of self-determination, and I stand by our 2024 manifesto commitment of equal rights of Israelis and Palestinians.

I will also stand in solidarity with Jewish communities in the UK who have faced repeated attacks and need the support of all politicians against any forms of discrimination and harassment.

The breakdown of our ecosystems is a national security threat. We must put restoring nature at the heart of government decision-making. So I'm delighted that @TheGreenParty members backed my conference motion on the need for a Nature, Biodiversity and Security Act.

Great to be in Bungay and nearby villages for the latest stops on my constituency tour. Thank you to everyone who came along to talk about heating oil costs, school and public transport, and river pollution.

It was great to be in Laxfield earlier this month. Thank you to the parish council and residents for showing me round the village, and the wonderful museum. Like so much of Waveney Valley, it's clear just how strong and active the community is in Laxfield.

For people in rural communities like Bungay & Halesworth, public transport isn't a luxury. It's how many people get to work, college & appointments. It makes no sense that the Reform-led council has allowed cuts to the X41. Cllr Peter Aiano & I have asked to meet council leaders to challenge the cut

Really pleased to speak at various events and propose motions at the Green Party conference this year. On Friday, I'll be running the conference's first panel alongside Lydia and Emma, discussing the defence and security case for climate resilience.

The UN warns the world has a narrowing window to restore forests, vital for food security and climate resilience. Barely a fifth of promised restoration is happening. We are one of the world's most nature-depleted countries. There's no excuse for inaction. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Thank you so much to Judi and Clare from St Elizabeth Hospice for showing me around the proposed site for the new hospice in Gorleston. We have a clear need for more hospice beds in Norfolk and Suffolk and it's great to see the plan getting close to being a reality.

The hospice will serve large parts of eastern Norfolk and Suffolk including parts of my constituency. I'll continue to work with St Elizabeth's and other local MPs to support these crucial plans.

It's encouraging that the Foreign Secretary is presenting this crucial report to ministers from other governments. But it's simply wrong that MPs, including those on the Environmental Audit Committee, are still being denied access to the full report.

The pupils had great questions. One asked, "Why did you become an MP?" My answer: I grew up here in East Anglia, I care about our community and I've cared about the environment since I was at school myself. I wanted to make a difference in politics by helping bring about positive change.

It's great that the Foreign Secretary has acknowledged the national security threat posed by climate breakdown and nature loss. Now we need a whole-of-government approach to match that recognition, not just words at Climate Week.  #UNGA www.gov.uk/government/s...
