As much as I'm loathe to delay the stream again, I think that this Friday 10/30 will be the better day for Eternal Darkness. Cutting it close with the end of the month here, but ultimately, I don't want to rush it or feel like I'm forcing the stream on a day that doesn't quite work.

Though there's a chance I could squeeze in session two of Eternal Darkness tomorrow, I'm going to play it safe and delay it to next Monday 10/26 at the earliest. On the plus side, that will give me time to work on the Ranko video.

Still, I plan on working more on the Ranko video. My progress has been on the slow side lately, but I can see the end in sight. I have a little of everything left to do (testing, recording, editing), but I fortunately did most of the heavy lifting earlier, so none of what's left will be difficult.

I owe two people an enormous amount of thanks for this video. First, @adrianvg.bsky.social, who provided a majority of the screenshots I use as reaction images throughout this video. Because yes, this video is in part about killing the past.

Even I'm annoyed by my own repetitive "don't post screenshots of X" posts, but this is another example of how modern social media works to keep awful people relevant by amplification. Yeah, awful person said awful thing, thanks for sharing, and making my timeline (and the world) a worse place.

And frankly, it wouldn't be so bad if more people actually tagged their posts with the right words to hit the right filters. Which wouldn't be enough, because some people even try to bypass these filters; I'd yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" at them, but no, they know exactly what they're doing.

Solemnly breaking out the sign making materials to make a "PLEASE DO NOT PUT CONTRAPOINTS ON THE TIMELINE" sign.

Writhing in agony on the floor as I am personally compelled (if not forced) to write "PLEASE DO NOT PUT IAN MILES CHEONG ON THE TIMELINE."

Beyond Good & Evil and its semi-recent remaster popped into my head, so I glanced at its Wikipedia page. Needless to say, once I reached the end of this paragraph, I could only laugh at the idea of BG&E2 ever actually seeing the light of day. It's a central pillar of the Duke Nukem Forever Void.

Looking for hobbyist J->E translators to work on the second Twilight Syndrome. The first game is fully translated (editing WIP) but I'm getting too busy with work to handle the second game alone. No hacking knowledge needed, we have web tools. Shoot me a DM if interested!

There's a likely chance I may have to move the second Eternal Darkness stream to another day. Will share details once I'm sure.

Yeah, aiming for this Friday 10/23 for session two.

I streamed the first session relatively early due to the possibility of personal schedule shifts, and hey, it looks like I was 100% right to do so! If nothing else, I think I can reasonably say that I'll finish Eternal Darkness sometime in October.

(Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day) Digging for more information about the game's digital releases. Based on what I could find (including putting together some admittedly easy clues), it seems like the game released digitally in North America, Europe, and Australia, but seemingly not Japan.

For a myriad of reasons, that sounds wrong and almost absurd, but I can't find the information I'd expect for a Japanese digital release. No sources that I checked list a JP digital Game ID, unless the game is just that obscure enough that English sources missed that detail, which also sounds wrong.

(Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day) The first tutorial prompt is pretty funny to me, because I've just straight up ignored it the entire time; on day one, I instinctively used the D-Pad for movement and never thought twice despite the in-game text. The manual mentions D-Pad movement, at least.

Yeah, aiming for this Friday 10/23 for session two.

Good first session of Eternal Darkness. As far as the day for session two goes, Monday isn't necessarily out of the question, next Friday is much more likely, and there's of course a small chance I might have to delay it further.

The other day, I was reminded of the time the usual suspects were stirring up a culture war beef ages ago for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. Absolute nonsense, for sure, but well after the fact, I saw some people saying stuff like "I bought it because of the hype, that was a mistake, it's not a good game."

I never looked more into those accounts (because why would I?), but at least in those moments, I appreciated their honesty after being duped, and I can only hope they got their heads on straight in general after eating their humble pie. Perhaps that's the least I can hope for in these cases.

Every now and then, I think to myself "maybe I should try watching Snyder's Watchmen," and then quickly remind myself how much agony it would probably cause me, and move on for however long.
