Science happens in the lab, but a lot of ideas start over dinner ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Last nightโ€™s conference dinner brought delegates together to swap stories, continue discussions on the dayโ€™s talks, and connect colleagues from across Australasia. #AEpiAConference2026 #AEpiA #EpigeneticsResearch #Networking

๐Ÿ† The Susan Clark Award honours researchers across Australasia whose work, leadership and advocacy are strengthening the epigenetics community and shaping the future of the field. It is named for Professor Susan Clark, a pioneer of DNA methylation research and founder of AEpiA.

2026aepia.com.auAEpiA 2026 ConferenceWe invite you to attend the 2026 Australasian Epigenetics Alliance Conference. This meeting will be held in Adelaide, South Australia in September 2026.

Meet the speakers | AEpiA 2026 Weโ€™re highlighting two AEpiA 2026 invited speakers whose research explores how transcription factors interpret the genome and shape gene regulation. #AEpiA2026 #Epigenetics #TranscriptionFactors #GeneRegulation #Chromatin #EpigeneticsResearch #AustralianResearch

Transcription factors sit at the interface between DNA sequence, chromatin state and gene expression. By understanding how they find, bind and regulate their targets, we can better understand the molecular logic that controls cell identity, development and disease.

Professor Kate Quinlan is a Professor in the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at UNSW Sydney. Her research focuses on mammalian gene regulation, investigating how transcription factors read both the DNA sequence and the epigenetic landscape to identify and regulate their targets.

Professor Guohong Li is from the College of Life Sciences at Wuhan University. His research has made major contributions to our understanding of chromatin structure and function, including the 30-nm chromatin fibre, centromeric chromatin, epigenetic regulation and cell fate determination.

Professor Marnie Blewitt is a Lab Head at WEHI. Her work focuses on the how the mechanisms of epigenetic control can be manipulated in disease. This research has recently led to the spinout Togglelux Therapeutics, which is developing potential treatments for Prader-Willi Syndrome.
