I always closed tabs with the keyboard shortcut. But twice (once on Windows, once on Mac) a key-up USB message got missed by hardware or OS or browser, and because keys repeat, hundreds of tabs were closed irretrievably before I got my wits about me to rectify the situation. So now I use the mouse!
