Last month to apply for ECR places on our workshop on developmental robustness taking place next April. Apply and spread the word, I promise it’s going to be great!

The Company of Biologists@biologists.bsky.social

Funded places are available for early-career researchers at our Workshop on Bridging Scales and Disciplines to Understand Robust Development, 18-21 April 2027, organised by Mauricio Rocha Martins and Giulia Paci @giuliapaci.bsky.social Find out more and apply at www.biologists.com/workshops/ap...

The cognitive dissonance of having to go talk very seriously about what my lab does to a bunch of master students after spending 30 min trying to calm an absolutely unbridled 4yo belting "Like a rhinestone cowboy" on my couch instead of brushing his teeth

Nevermind, forget what I said, I am a rock star, I can do anything, nobel prize here I come

The scientific dissonance of being able to do all sorts of elaborate microscopy, yet not being able to install the "super simple" new printers.

A newish colleague I bumped into in the cell culture thought I was a new student/postdoc! Good news: another victory for my face cream Bad news: I'm never in the lab so I'm starting to exist more as a concept than a 3D person.

I cannot comprehend why my kids systematically scream NOT WITH COLD WATER every time I put them in the shower as if drenching them in cold water is something I casually do on the regular. Mate this has happened a grand total of 0 times, let's not have the neighbors call CPS

This is probably the last time I post here, I have entered an Editorial Manager infinity loop where I both don't exist and exist with a different password and I will probably become anti-matter soon

I made WAY TOO MANY mini donuts for my daughter's birthday so my kids are now going door to door proposing donuts to all the neighbors, it's like I'm running my own little drug cartel. (Can of beer for scale)

So stoked for these 2 great scientists and friends! Many congratulations 🎉

Congratulations to Gautam Dey (EMBL) and Omaya Dudin (University of Geneva) for being awarded the EMBO Gold Medal 2026 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the #LifeSciences in Europe! 🧪 https://www.embo.org/press-releases/embo-gold-medal-2026-awarded-to-gautam-dey-and-omaya-dudin/

Despite recent bike drama, I'm on my way to (and excited for) #EESMechanobiology! Get in touch to talk about cell division, cell mechanics, Arsenal's PL title, prospects of the Oranje at the world cup, or anything silly.

Sad that I will miss the embo workshop "the rules of the game" meetings.embo.org/event/26-cel..., but excited that Babette from my lab will get the chance to present her work in my stead. My 6yo got into a horrible bike accident on Saturday and cut her foot real bad-she's ok now but needs help!

Very big thanks to the random woman off the street who drove us to the hospital and got her car drenched in blood. As usual care in the hospital was fantastic AND she got to choose the color of her new cast today (pink with glitter, obviously)
