New York City's buses are indeed a lifeline for many riders. We must keep committing to making them faster and more accessible for everyone.
A huge win for businesses all across the city, especially our smaller businesses who were left out or felt discouraged because of how arduous the process was.
📷 It’s official: Mayor Mamdani has signed Int. 655, making outdoor dining year-round in NYC! Thank you @mayor.nyc.gov, @cmrestler.bsky.social & @speakermenin.bsky.social; outdoor dining means more places to eat, gather, and enjoy our neighborhoods. This is a big win for people-centered streets. 📷📷
I ran at Macombs Dam Park recently and was once again reminded of the necessary investments that parks all across the city, but especially in the Bronx, need. We’re so much better than this.
Decisions like this showcase the power of community and coalitions. Now it’s important that any decisions that follow put the health and safety of Bronxites first. No more expansions. No more lanes. No more highways.

A win for the Bronx and all of NYC! The relentless advocacy from the Stop the Cross Bronx Expansion Coalition and community members is paying off!! A testament to what’s possible when communities come together and put people first!
New York State is stopping plans to repair and widen five bridges along the Cross Bronx Expressway after a multi-year fight with local Bronx residents who objected to the plan on the grounds that a wider highway would bring even more cars and traffic to a noted asthma alley. buff.ly/hKGqaVl

Port Authority is a government agency, not a private corporation. Yet, they operate against the public good frequently by underfunding public transportation. We had to campaign just to restore PATH service to the same level as it was 20 years ago. And where is the PATH extension to Newark Airport?
The Port Authority quietly added and raised new fees and tolls to help pay for the new $11B Port Authority Bus Terminal - so quiet even its own users didn't know. Its biggest user - NJ Transit - is facing a 60% increase in costs in FY27, compared to FY25.

"Outdoor dining was one of the few silver linings of a difficult chapter in our history. With the right adjustments, it can remain a defining feature of the city’s streetscape - helping small businesses flourish while creating vibrant public spaces that bring neighbors together."
Thank you to Commissioner Flynn and the NYCDOT for supporting this program. Join us at @openplans.org as we continue the work towards restoring it year-round.

📢 We urge our leaders to make the right decision and bring back year-round outdoor dining once and for all. 👉🏼 Show your support for year-round outdoor dining by sending a letter: action.openplans.org/support-year...
Street Vendor reform is now law! Huge congrats to our vendors citywide & to the @streetvendorproj.bsky.social for this win.
Great op-ed from @johnsurico.bsky.social. Let’s continue investing in our public transit system.
There’s no better moment than right now to bring the G back to Forest Hills on weekends. Here’s why in @nyc.streetsblog.org: nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/01/27/m...
@shabazzstuart.bsky.social and the Oonee team have worked hard & know the system extremely well. They deserve answers & another opportunity.
Today, Oonee and @cyclehoop.bsky.social filed a formal protest with @nyc-dot.bsky.social with respect to its handling of Secure Bike Parking. The DOT has not responded to our requests for a debriefing and says it won't provide FOIL materials until June (!!!) More below: docsend.com/view/2wh47gj...
The NYSDOT recently released their draft Environmental Assessment for the Cross Bronx 5 Bridges Project. Tell them that the community needs more time to review/comment & to not widen the Cross Bronx Expressway: actionnetwork.org/letters/new-...

Speaker Adams did not bring CM Julie Won’s bill, Int. 1138 to a vote this session, which would have given New Yorkers more visibility at intersections. We are deeply disappointed in this result. This is a setback in the fight for daylighting but we will not be deterred.
It was great joining my friends at the @ridersalliance.org to demand for an expanded Fair Fares program and free buses. An equitable transportation system is essential for NYC.
On Sunday, riders took action to demand an affordability agenda that meets the moment. One that will offer free and reduced transit fare to more than 2 million New Yorkers by expanding the Fair Fares program and making our buses free for all riders.
Let’s get Int. 431-A across the finish line and bring much needed reform to our street vending system while also protecting our immigrant communities. Thank you to @pisancheznyc.bsky.social for your leadership on this.
We were proud to join @streetvendorproj.bsky.social, @maketheroadny.bsky.social , at City Hall yesterday in support of @cmpisanchez.bsky.social ‘s amended version of bill Int. 431-A which reforms NYC’s street vending system. ☎️ We have 5️⃣ days to pass this vital bill, call your councilmember today!
It was great learning more about @queenslink.org and the opportunity to bring more public transit and green space to Southeast Queens. Let’s urge the city & state to get this done: thequeenslink.org/get-involved/
Please continue calling on Speaker Adams and the City Council to pass Intro 1138. This is the simplest and most effective way to improve visibility and safety at our intersections. action.openplans.org/support-hard... @openplans.org
200 local groups — from NYC DSA to the Staten Island Conservative Party — joined the growing chorus for banning parking at corners in order to improve safety and visibility in hopes of pushing forward a stalled Council bill to mandate the street redesign known as daylighting.
Such a beautiful and important moment for this city and for this country.
BREAKING: Mamdani capped his campaign for NYC mayor with a historic win, defeating Cuomo in a contest closely watched by national Dems, Republicans and the White House. He'll be the first Muslim mayor of NYC — and Trump's new foil ahead of the midterms. politi.co/3LthNzY
