Boltgun 2 is the type of iterative sequel that I personally would like to see more of. It took a solid foundation and, kept the stuff that worked well, and improved the stuff that didn't. Me likey.

One important piece of context that many people might not realize: Shutting down a game studio is expensive. Shutting down a French game studio — thanks to labor laws requiring an extended severance period — is VERY expensive. Xbox doesn't want to take on those costs.

Let me share some positive news for a change: Despite all the gloomy headlines today, my understanding is that there are multiple paths actively being explored that would save Arkane Lyon. Anything can happen during negotiations, but at this point I'd be surprised if the studio is shut down.

I'm just going to assume that outside of GTA and yearly titles, every Western AAA game that's come out or is about to come out will be the studio's last. E-Day will be the last Gears game, Doom: The Dark Ages will be the last id game, etc. It sucks but what other conclusion can I draw?
