"That's almost word for word what they told us when we were sold the war in Iraq. Remember 2003?" -- another Pete Buttigieg masterclass on Fox News. There is no Democrat better at communicating to that audience.

People need this training of running an organization that is quickly growing. Of managing groups of people and directing their energy. Of passing proposals. Of preventing disruption. How else do you plan to learn these skills? When the bullets are flying? Get in here now

DSA chapters are kinda proto-workers councils if you think about it

If you want to meet core members volunteer to help set up general body meetings / chapter conventions. Yes you’ll be checking people in but this is how you start those relationships

It is very interesting realizing almost everyone commenting on DSA has no idea how DSA works or what it even is when everyone could just go and observe and go on their local chapter website and probably figure it out.

It does make you realize so many people on the “left” online have entirely opted out of organizing because even if you were in other local parties you’d know more than nothing about DSA

Lots of people are trying to simultaneously hold “electoralism in which we inherit the bourgeois state cannot lead to socialism” and “we need to praise liberal electoralism and spend a lot of our time trying to win elections as democrats” Towards what end? Are you really thinking clearly about

It is not harm reduction if in the end we are all dead, the movement is destroyed and the fascists are in power. It seems like it is the safer path but reformism is a path covered in the blood of dozens of socialist movements before us if not hundreds

the first thing and what that means? The capitalists will not sit idly by as more socialists are elected to bourgeois office and the socialist movement grows in general. Do you understand what is at stake if we don’t put as much or more effort into building a militant movement capable of seizing

power? Things will not just slow burn out. There will be a crackdown like you have never seen. Are you thinking about that when you tell people what’s what? Do you want to be like the communists in Indonesia who had to admit they took the wrong path after 1 million died.

“Omg there’s a DSA in a major city” You live under a rock and this explains why your politics haven’t updated since 1985

Social democracy cannot forever insulate capitalism in crisis. To put your eggs in its basket is to believe it can fulfill its fake promises. That it can reform capitalism. That crisis under its leadership won’t occur.

The financial capitalists are then presented with the perfect opportunity to take their power back and crush the workers. They fund an alternative mass movement and arm them. The fascist movement then liquidates any existing working class movement no matter how reformist. We are then set back

Another 100 years. All of your friends are dead. This is the danger. And this is a part of the argument made in fascism and social Revolution, which every socialist should read.

Social democracy cannot forever insulate capitalism in crisis. To put your eggs in its basket is to believe it can fulfill its fake promises. That it can reform capitalism. That crisis under its leadership won’t occur.

Why is this dangerous? Let’s say finally, you have convinced the people to elect socialists. You have no militant socialist force capable of revolution. Inevitably, an economic crisis occurs.

The social democrats cannot keep their concessions. They pull back. They push people to produce and consume. They allow police to break strikes. The working class becomes disillusioned with the “socialism” that has been sold to them
