I am getting a lot of non bot followers right now. I am following back very few. I like to stay informed, but do not obsess over politics. Also, I do not follow back people who only repost other people's original material. I am not interested in collecting followers. I am interested in: 1/

The rain finally let up enough for me to go check on stuff outside. My greenhouse leaked around the window, but no hail damage. I am seeing notifications for numerous road closures in the region. Some roads are flooded. Others washed out completely.

I am under a tornado watch now. One of the reasons for moving here WAS no tornadoes. We don't (or didn't) get lines of thunderstorms. The largest hail that I have seen here is the size of a garbanzo bean. #newmexico #tornadowatch #elnino #collapse

There was a tornado overnight about 150 miles (240km) west of me in Arizona. This is not normal. I can't recall ever seeing a tornado siren around this area. I spent too many nights in a bathtub, hallway, or basement. I have been camping when tornadoes came through. I don't like tornadoes.

I voted today. The annoying thing about voting early is having to wait for the results. I live in an extremely low population county that votes blue. 47 got more votes in the last election than he did in prior elections due to Harris refusing to say genocide is bad.

waves that are gaining speed and strength. I no longer wish to dare the waves to knock me down. If society has chosen to stand frozen on the beach daring the tsunami to know them down while hoping the video will go viral, so be it. End 🧵

people dying from excessive heat this summer is barely a blip on the radar in the US. It's not from the lack of compassion. It's from the overwhelming catastrophic tsunami of political and societal crap that is bombarding us on a daily basis. Now, I see Europe and Australia headed in the same

direction politically. As a global civilization, we needed a global cooperation to change the path towards the collapse of everything. This is not happening now, nor will it be anytime soon. After decades of trying to get people to comprehend this, I decided to get as far away from the approaching

Civilization is doing as we ignore the reality of our current predicament. We are daring the waves of reality to knock us down. Considering the overwhelming size of these waves, it's suicide. Every day, I try to do something that will make the coming years less sucky. I can't stop these waves. I

do not see a path where our global civilization will set aside the greed and selfishness in order to change course. Honestly, that is how I have felt since Standing Rock. As the waves of reality grow stronger and stronger, we keep on keeping on as though nothing is happening. Tens of thousands of

Wind gusts around 40mph Sustained 25mph Temperature 41F Wind chill 27F Cloud cover 0% My cabin is cozy w/o my heater running. Good insulation and passive solar heating keep my heating needs low. All of the struggles and sacrifices over the last 5 yrs have been worth it.

For the past few days, I have been preparing for the first freeze. My subconscious brain, however, did not read the memo and started whining around 3am. I don't run my heater overnight until it is below 15F. After a year of temps around 10F above average, normal temps feel really cold.

🌱 We're supposed to get our first frost this week. I just harvested: comfrey, sage, peppermint, spearmint, and basil. I filled a gallon sized basket of sage. I don't know if you remember, but deer ate my sage bush down to the ground just as it started to emerge this spring. ...

I was so disappointed. It tripled in size this year after the extreme haircut! My goji berry bush had a similar experience. It's finally taking off as I wanted. It has spread out 2 ft in all directions! My cabin smells so yummy right now. 🥰

I just watched a video on collapse. It was so painful to watch. I will share my personal thoughts at the end. Too many have this expectation that tech or politicians will save us. Take a look around. Tech bros have zero interest. Politicians are only interested in power serving their wealthy ...

just vote blue. (Um, the DNC is 100% complicit in corruption that has destroyed our ecosystem. They do not care about poor people. They only care about winning. Schumer is pro-genocide.) As long as society sees rape, racism, abuse, sex trafficking, etc. as just a thing that survivors need to...

This is still too far in the future to be reliable. Still....❄️☃️❄️ Since it's supposed to rain today. I plan on spending time in the greenhouse. I have been cleaning out my shed and separating out my garden stuff and tools and putting it in the new greenhouse. Now, I need to organize it all.

I want my greenhouse to double as a place to do art and have a change of scenery over the winter. I love the snow and cold temps, but I do get a bit of cabin fever.

Dog wound help needed Harley somehow managed to tear a piece of a toe pad off. I have no idea how. He doesn't cry out in pain. It's about 3mm across down to the soft issue beneath. It's red, but not oozing. I am going to clean it, cover with gauze, and wrap it. Should I put any ointment on it?

I have read on serval sites that my triple antibiotic ointment is safe as long as I wrap it well so he can't pick it. I am just looking for any other cautionary advice.

A bunny came to my door. It actually stood up on its back legs and put its front ones on the window to look inside. I better check the wildlife water bowls after I finish my coffee. These critters have really high expectations for this time a day. Yesterday, a pinejay started yelling at me at 6 am.

Yesterday, I walked to a neighbor's to inform him of the silver alert. He doesn't do social media. He's 84 and a Navy vet. He's this cantankerous curmudgeon who doesn't like anyone...mostly. I helped him put my number in his cell contacts. He also wrote it down on his emergency contact list. ...

He just sent me a text to make sure we did it right. I asked if he had any food allergies so I could bring him soup when I make a big pot. He said, "Nope, but I do love chili!" I reminded him that I am from Texas, and my chili can be a bit spicy. He said that he has plenty of antacids and ....

Supervolcano. I am surrounded by historically recent cinder cone volcanoes. These babies could blow from the worldwide shimmy. That would be quick. Otherwise, this 3-day plague. I am really not up for nuclear fallout zombies.

According to the Climate 8-Ball, there is a 16% chance of doom by 2030, a 51% chance of doom by 2050 and an 87% chance of doom by 2100. The most likely source of doom is AI. The Climate 8-Ball informed me that it is not answering any questions about this graphic.

I have been wanting some purple asters for years. They flourish at lower altitudes around here. This year, a birdie brought me a present. I am going to try to collect some seeds.

I just heard from his niece. They are stopping the search after today. Please share. Pretty please.

There is a silver alert in West Central NM. It has gone statewide. Please share if you are in #NewMexico or #Arizona. He has wandered off before, but never this long. It's hot and sunny in the desert today. This is quite urgent. #silveralert

Microplastics have been found in human placentas, Antarctica and clouds. The planetary boundary we've smashed through the hardest - novel entities. Plastics, pills and pesticides, we've been poisoning the planet and ourselves with a cocktail of synthetic chemicals for decades.

Hey Europeans: I bought this chapstick decades ago. Brand was Lobello. Label was blue with white letters. I found that brand online, but the labeling has changed. For skiers. Clear when applied. Does anyone know what I need to look for on the new label? It's the only one that has worked for me.

This guy seems a bit rapey.

Some accounts are set up by a crisis PR firms. This one didn't exist before Jacob Geller admitted to raping that girl at UNC. This account has posted nothing but comments on this thread pretending that it "wasn't rape, just sexual assault". Trying to create a new narrative. @pipsdontlie.bsky.social

There is something good happening now. Women in their 60s and 70s are telling their stories for the first time. They are getting love and support from younger women and a few men. I do not know one woman who who hasn't been sexually assaulted to some degree. #rapeculture #IAmJaneDoe #epsteinclass
