Understanding Comics, by Scott McCloud, defines a triangle between picture, realism, and text. Writing about numbers is much the same way. Numbers can be used in a data mining way yet trying for statistical rigor, or in service of a story.

Panic is the opposite of worthiness. When I feel panic I am blind to all but escape and "the mission". When I feel worthy I am aware of dangers but they let me know what to do, because of course I would avoid them. No thinking required. That's why I biked this morning.
