Through 1:30 p.m. today, Alaska is up to 7.6% voter turnout, with 46,403 early and absentee votes recorded by the Alaska Division of Elections. If current trends continue, the state will be near the record early voting turnout of 2024. #akleg

Among early voters, 18.5% have been registered Democrats and 26.6% have come from registered Republicans. Of Alaska's 604,771 registered voters, 11.6% are Democrats and 23.5% are Republicans, indicating that while Republican turnout is higher, Democratic turnout is disproportionately high.

Sullivan had said that he didn't reregister himself, but the Alaska Division of Elections provided a copy of the absentee ballot request that shows he listed "undeclared" as his party affiliation, which changed his registration from Republican to that.

Getting kind of old: it's looking increasingly likely that next week Typhoon Champi will become the fourth (ex) typhoon in past 10 weeks to track into the Alaska portion of the Bering Sea: already Bang-Lang in August, Dujuan in September and Choi-wan in early October. #akwx

OK, new photo and a new analysis of today's Alaska US Senate lawsuit, with an explanation that the case only has binding power in the scenario where Peltola wins by a margin that's smaller than the number of first-choice votes received by Dan J. Sullivan: alaskabeacon.com/2026/10/23/t...

alaskabeacon.comTrump administration sues to block Alaska's US Senate election result if Peltola wins | Alaska BeaconThe move is the latest attempt by the President to support incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Dan S. Sullivan against a Democratic challenger.

And that's only if people are still confused after a clear separation on the ballot. The two Sullivans are listed as “Sullivan, Dan S. (Registered Republican) (Incumbent)” and “Sullivan, Daniel J. Jr.”

If none of the four Senate candidates receive at least 50% of the first-choice votes, the lowest finisher will be eliminated and their votes redistributed to voters’ second choices. The process then repeats until only two candidates are left.

Because Peltola and Dan S. Sullivan are expected to receive the majority of the votes, they would be the last two candidates left. A voter who ranks Dan J. Sullivan first and Dan S. Sullivan second would eventually have their vote go to Dan S. Sullivan under that scenario.

Something I think is important, that other folks have tended to skip over ... the DOJ argument relies on the effect of hypothetical confused voters, but Alaska uses ranked choice voting, and confusion wouldn't disenfranchise anyone. They could simply rank both Sullivans without a problem.

I’ll be expanding this all day long and will update you as I add more.

Well, it's going to get overshadowed by the elections lawsuit news today, but yesterday, an Alaska state judge ruled that the Lt. Gov. and the Division of Elections violated state law when they put a disqualified state House candidate back on the ballot: alaskabeacon.com/2026/10/22/a... #akleg

Looking through the first two days of early voting data was interesting: Significantly more Republicans have voted early, bucking the national trend. Among early voters through Wednesday morning, more than 26% were registered Republicans. Compare that to 19% registered Democrats. #akleg #Alaska
