Some republican house members, including three from Minnesota (alas), sent a letter to Canada complaining about smoke from their fires spoiling our barbecues. Like we never have fires here.

David brooks has a piece in the Atlantic about america’s meritocracy. It’s full of statistics but I find the conclusions questionable. People are different. They want different things in life. Not everyone wants to be rich.
