A great writer, a crabby intellectual, a questionable politician. RIP Mario Vargas Llosa.

A spectacular gift from our dear friend, Oaxacan poet Efraín Velasco, who is also a talented graphic designer. This baldosa, a type of tile typical of Oaxaca and Puebla, just won 1st place in the Concurso Baldosa 2024, sponsored by the Casa de las Artes de San Agustín Etla (CASA).

Today is World Poetry Day. We honor the great Brazilian poet Astrid Cabral. This bilingual collection, translated by Alexis Levitin, is available at aliformpublishing.com. #astridcabral #poetry #worldpoetryday #brazilianliterature #brazilianpoetry @aliformpublishing.bsky.social

Aliform's director Jay Miskowiec hard at work at the Azador Vasco, downtown Oaxaca. Provecho! Eat, drink, and read lots of books. @aliformpublishing.bsky.social

When one of Aliform's titles becomes a New York Times bestseller, I'm buying this building in the Analco neighborhood of Puebla and making it into an arts center. OK, so buy some books. aliformpublishing.com @aliformpublishing.bsky.social aliformpublishing@gmail.com instagram.com/aliformpublishing

Prospi hopes you all read something interesting this weekend, hopefully from Aliform Publishing.

Almodovar on steriods.

Julián Herbert is not a writer we've published, but consider certainly among the most important Latin American writers since Roberto Bolaño. 'Canción de tumba' (Tomb Song) is a tremendously moving work. #julianherbert #mexicanliterature #canciondetumba #mexicanwriters #saltillo

Just have to say this is one of the best feeds on Bluesky. Love seeing the fruits of labor of so many gardeners.

One of our favorite publications. The Brazilian poet Astrid Cabral writes beautifully about this fragile world in which we live. This bilingual English/Portuguese collection is available at aliformpublishing.com. #poetry @Brazilianliterature #AstridCabral @poetry #sustainability #Brazil @Brazil

For anyone out there attentive to the universe in which you live this Saturday, February 1, 8:10 pm., please go outside and look at the crescent moon and Venus. It's these moments that nature, the life force, God, whatever you want to call it, give us to know life is worth living.

Just a meminder: it's the Gulf of Mexico, and it will always be so no matter what some dipshit says. #gulfofmexico
