the rigger urge to experiment 🥲 #live2d

all the nerdy stuffs aside, here is what's important! I tried to make it like the string is pressed on the skin and it makes it look extra soft :3 vtuber: @/nyxiena art: @/MYwhat_ #live2d

I did a little performance test that I thought of and gained interesting result . Disclaimer: Other factors were significantly amplified to test out the 2 methods. In practice the difference won't be as obvious. #live2d

- Test 1: there will only be 1 deformer, I made this by rigging it with 2 deformer first, each with its own parameter movement, then flatten (ctrl+ shift delete) the top deformer so that the bottom one has 2 parameters.

- Test 2: The 2 deformers are stacked to create the movements. The bottom deformer intrude out of the top deformer when it moves - Test 3: the 2 deformers are still stacked, but but the top deformer is big enough so that bottom deformer doesn't go outside.

For example, if you have to stack 10 deformers for physics, you should start considering to flatten them ( ctrl + shift + delete to transfer NORMAL param from top deformer to bottom, this wont apply for blendshape) 😉 How the test is carried out: ↓

- There will be a layer with rigged deformer on top. There are 2 parameters for movement. The deformer and Layer will be duplicated a big number of times , in this test i duplicated them 144 times.

Tldr: In test 1, its performance in vts is significantly better than 2 and 3, while its rigging file size is almost double the size. Test 2 and 3 have similar performance in vts tho test 3 has slightly bigger file size 🤔

This animation for the glasses took me so long to do >.<'' But I figured out a way to turn smooth animation into step motion without having to manually key everything in live2d! 🥳 Would you be interested to learn the method? art: @/rimuurin vtuber: @/Chiyubiya #live2d

Sneakpeak of our vietnam community project for live2d_hcmcity_chapter This is a collaborative rig project of multiple riggers! and she turned out pretty nice so far! It's pretty nice that I got to try a simpler bodymovement, which i don't get to do a lot as well! #live2d

experiment turning model's pet into live2d item instead of integrating the pet into the fullbody model themselves. It doesnt look too bad! art: @rimuurin.bsky.social vtuber: @chiyubiya.bsky.social #live2d #vtubestudio

View full thread

- **Downside**: + Live2d item uses 30 fps physics setting, so if the pet is rigged with the model at first, Physics might look worse when turned into item. + Live2d item pinning isn't very reliable, the item will always be offset a little compared to when integrated into fullbody model.

+ Trouble with rotation deformer scaling (when the model has leaning for example) 🤔 + Problem with shadow

- **Upside**: + Increasing model's performance when pet isnt in use. + Being able to pin the pet on other position ( like on shoulder in the video )
