We're well into the process of converting the Messaging app included in GrapheneOS into a modern app. We'll be making a new release later today with a completely overhauled user interface written in Android Compose. We've made a massive amount of other improvements and bug fixes beyond that too.

Ok, gaming would be pretty limited. From what I can find, Linuxulator is actually really capable, but things like a native FreeBSD port of Proton are AI generated, controller support is currently non-functional through Linuxulator, and performance is... less than desirable. Won't deter me though.

With Debian now accepting GenAI contributions, and so many distros either doing that, or just not making a statement in the first place, it's making me feel cornered. If gaming is limited to my Steam Deck, so be it. If my main PC becomes limited to web browsers and chat, so be it. I. Don't. Care.

The level I've been considering switching my main PC to Free/OpenBSD to avoid AI usage is... concerning. I learned how to use it and practiced installing it inside a VM, so I'd know what I'm doing, but still. Practically all of my gaming would be relegated to my Steam Deck. Outside of MC, anyways.

What sucks even more is that it's working. People are giving in. Mindlessly watching AI TikToks/YT Shorts, asking Gemini or ChatGPT for basic life advice and immediately trusting its output, accepting AI generated contributions into FOSS software, and being OK with game devs using GenAI 11/14

AI is very quickly becoming more and more of a corrosive entity in every space, quickly forcing it's way into people's lives like a parasite. People are slowly starting to give in, thinking "Well, if it sticks to [insert thing person doesn't care about] it's ok". Even though it clearly is not. 9/14

That's what these companies want, though. They want you to slowly give in. They start putting it in ways that you can't disable(Apple Intelligence, Gemini built into Pixel phones, Copilot, etc), numbing you to everything else that they're doing, making it more and more invasive. 10/14

It's honestly so disappointing to find this out. I followed TiDBH when I originally noticed them, thinking they were a good thing. They liked a post of mine a while back, about how AI can never be ethical and how it shouldn't exist and cannot be a tool, making me think they agreed with that. 7/14

An actual entity that does what TiDBH claims to do SHOULD exist. There should be a group out there that is trusted to certify that people don't use AI to create/assist them in their creations. Someone that does the proper background checks, looks deep into what people make to make sure. 8/14

One of the co-founders, @gk3000.bsky.social, runs a school in Barcelona called @barcelonacodeschool.com, which offers "no-code" classes which use GenAI to "learn" how to program. 3/14

Thanks to @bmaster4114.bsky.social, I have been made aware that @thisisdonebyhumans.bsky.social is a hoax. While there are a lot of creators that get "certified" by them that genuinely want to prove they don't use AI and ARE people you should support, TiDBH themselves are a phony operation. 2/14

Little tip for art directors of AAA/AA games: REAL LIFE IS INCREDIBLY BLAND All these fucking ray-traced floors and windows and extreme godrays are actually making shit UNrealistic. TLoU mastered realism by making the lighting as bland as possible. That's realism. Aim for that. #gaming #art

Not to say vibrant colours and strong designs are a bad thing; quite the opposite. But so many games now are making it clear they're trying to be realistic, but are forgetting that real lighting is extremely bland. Bland can be really nice! TLoU I & II proved that!

Just switched my Steam Deck back to official SteamOS and left the Bazzite Discord server. I really liked popping into the support forums and helping people. Really wish I could've stayed, but the amount of people in the support forums that fucked their systems by listening to chatbots and the AI usage support among the general user base made me nervous about how much it was being used inside Bazzite itself, so I couldn't take it anymore and left.
