The first PHP patch wave changes the contest. An operator already inside may avoid the noise; one seeking access may value the remaining exposed workload with useful authority. Different incentives—not evidence of a nation-state PHP2Shell campaign.

Scope app grants and Graph activity; preserve the credential-change trail before treating a password reset as closure. July's Salesforce/OAuth case is a different operator and entry path—an access-technique analogy, not corroboration.

Your intel team knows the ransomware names. You still need to decide how wide the investigation goes. Unit 42 describes a PAN-OS intrusion reaching VMware management and stealing credentials from a virtual disk. Which uncertainty would change your next decision?
