NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

I'm a fan of the video game RimWorld, and their new 1.7 update switches from Unity to their own custom engine "Waylith". But more importantly I think this reiterates that picking Unity is very much a dead end, given their history of ruinous changes in the name of profit-seeking.

Hey, ML and AI engineers, how much effort would it take to create a model that takes a web page's HTML as input, and outputs HTML of just the basic text information on the page? Basically make everything look like Wikipedia. Could it be made small enough to run on old laptops as a browser extension?

Asking for a friend.

Would it be weird if I was at the laundromat and not wearing pants? Or would it be obvious that I wasn't wearing pants because they were in the laundry?

The defining trait of consumers as a group is being unorganized and (though they'll never admit it) controlled by advertising. Corporations and the politically organized can manipulate/regulate a market, but consumers can only order off the menu they're handed.

Okay, new business idea. You know how sometimes people leave spare change in their car's cupholder? The first step is to raise $12 to invest in a hammer...

My startup bakery is able to make cakes for $20 that people will pay $10 for. But after a billion dollar investment, I was able to make them for $15. After another $1b funding round, my team can make em for $12.50. I'm proud to announce that we can now make $10 cakes for $11.25.

I want to create a reboot of Scooby Doo, where at the end of the episode the ghost or the mummy or the space alien turns out to just be Elon Musk doing fraud. It's Elon Musk every time. Week after week, the episode ending just turns out to be Elon Musk committing fraud.

When people ask me if I've ever told a lie, I tell them no. They ask me again, and I tell them I've never told a single lie in my entire life. Then they press me on it, and I tell them I'm just not capable of it. It turns into a huge argument. I wish I could just say "yes" at the start and avoid it.

Does anyone have experience with running local models and connecting their Python scripts to them? Or experience running Pydantic? Mind if I pick your brain for a few minutes? Please message me.

You absolutely should see "You Can See Everything" in theaters and without spoilers, but know this: apparently people who see it having read Bad Blood are a lot less ambiguous on the "Is Elizabeth Holmes being manipulative?" question than those who haven't.

When I was a kid, a big screen TV was the thing rich families had. Now large TVs are the only thing that has become and stayed cheap in our economy, but who cares because we're all staring at our phones.

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

I got my flu and covid shot. If it's required to have a medical reason for you to get a covid booster, "physical inactivity" is a medical reason. You don't have to explain any further. Tell them what they need to hear. Just get the damn shot.

I am deeply committed to nonviolent political action. Today is the anniversary of the event which gets me closest to doubting that commitment.
