Vivek Ramaswamy’s ad targeting Amy Acton’s childhood sexual abuse backfired. It prompted Ohio’s largest newspaper, The Plain Dealer, to reverse its policy on political endorsements and endorse Acton for governor.

A win! Another defeat for Trump’s DOJ. A federal judge ruled that prosecutor Maurene Comey was illegally fired and ordered retroactive reinstatement and backpay through December 20, 2025.

The resistance around the world keeps growing. Brazil and Serbia are thousands of miles apart, but people in both countries are standing up to authoritarianism. They’ve shown us what can happen when people refuse to give up.

A win for the resistance! Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated Flávio Bolsonaro to remain president of Brazil, dealing a major blow to the far right in Latin America. Ketchup will be flying tonight at the White House! 💚✊

Attn: USPS changes mean your ballot may not be postmarked the same day you mail it. Don’t wait until Election Day! Deadlines vary by state. Some require ballots to ARRIVE by Election Day, not just be postmarked.

West Virginia’s Republican Attorney General JB McCuskey is demanding a decade of records from environmental groups, including their internal communications and statements about climate change. Now West Virginia Rivers Coalition and 350. org are suing,

saying the investigation is retaliation for their advocacy. WV Rivers says it has already slowed projects over fears that community partners could be targeted. People should be able to speak up for clean water and public lands without worrying about an attorney general coming after them.

Attn California voters: The Trump administration is escalating its pressure on local election officials demanding cooperation with a federal citizenship review and threatening potential legal consequences.

On Friday, the Justice Department sent letters to 57 CA counties, following an earlier demand to Los Angeles County. Officials were given 48 hours to commit to working with federal agencies to review lists of suspected noncitizens. DOJ wants ballots set aside until citizenship can be verified.

These are allegations, not 20,000 confirmed cases of illegal voting. California officials have already identified serious problems with the federal list. A preliminary Los Angeles County review found canceled registrations, people with no voting history, and records identifying people as U.S.-born.

Attn: The Trump administration is attempting to violate a judge’s order again. A judge blocked the reorganization of the Forest Service. Now Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says the Trump administration is “full-bore ahead” with its sweeping Forest Service reorganization.

The plan would relocate headquarters to Salt Lake City, close 23 research stations, and replace many regional offices with state offices essentially completely eliminating the Forest Service.

Supporters point to its clean energy provisions. But expanding our electric grid should not come at the expense of clean water, Tribal sovereignty, or the public’s right to speak up about what gets built in their communities.

Heads up. A Senate bill being sold as “permitting reform” could seriously weaken protections for our public lands, clean water, historic places, and sacred Tribal sites. S. 5653, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, would narrow environmental reviews and

make it harder for communities to challenge harmful projects. The Native American Rights Fund warns it would weaken Tribal consultation and protections for cultural resources. Nine Tribal organizations have already called for harmful historic preservation provisions to be removed.

The Trump administration’s top border official defended plans to build a wall and other infrastructure in Texas’ Big Bend region despite mounting opposition and a court-ordered construction pause. The administration has asked the Supreme Court to lift the halt and allow work to resume.

Attn Seattle voters: Two mail bins containing undelivered ballots were found in a dumpster at Golden Gardens Park, according to King County Elections. All ballots have been reissued to the affected voters, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating.

Republicans don’t want students to vote, but please don’t let this stop you from making your voice heard! The Supreme Court today allowed New Hampshire to bar student IDs as identification for the midterm elections, granting the state’s emergency request backed by the Republican National Committee.

Some Republicans appear more interested in attacking Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, than addressing the voting concerns she raised. Stella and other Tennessee voters say they had to correct their selections before casting their ballots.

Whether the explanation is screen calibration or something else, encouraging people to double-check their ballots is common sense. Review your selections, check the paper record, and alert a poll worker if anything looks wrong before casting your ballot. Why would anyone be against that?

Please note: Even in states that use paper ballots, some voters use accessible touchscreen devices to mark or print their ballots. That means paper ballots don’t rule out a touchscreen issue. We’re being told screen calibration may explain the reported problems, but that has not been confirmed.

This is deeply disturbing. The Pentagon has approved letting DHS test a military “heat ray” weapon for use at the southern border, according to a September memo obtained by CNN. It’s called the Active Denial System, it fires an invisible energy beam that heats the surface of the skin,
