"hampered" Hmm... 'Apart from that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?'

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

The NY Times writes that “Trump’s promises to restore fiscal order and reduce the amount of America’s debt burden have been hampered by spending on the Iran war, tax cuts and tariff refunds.” As if it’s just a run of bad luck instead of an ongoing con job against the American people.

My question was already answered by Christopher Holcroft a few weeks ago in the Hill Times. Nieuport (staff + consultants) met with the PMO 8 (updated since pub) times since last summer. MP Chi Nguyen (airport MP) had 7 meetings with Nieuport inc four in March. www.hilltimes.com/2026/05/14/t...

My question is: how much have Federal Liberal MPs, including the so-far mealy-mouthed Toronto Caucus, been lobbied by this group too?

Years ago Andre-Philippe Gagnon used to say Quebec wanted 'a free and independent Quebec within a strong and united Canada.' It was a joke then, but he hadn't reckoned on 2026 happening... who could have?

Aww! Save 'The Big 8' building, it's a shrine! (Disclosure, not related to Byron MacGregor.)

Andrew Jeanes@wanderoo.bsky.social

The City of Windsor is debating whether to designate the former CBC/CKLW building as a heritage property. This mid-20th century modernist structure has deep associations with radio broadcasting history but is at risk of demolition. Attn: @shawnmicallef.bsky.social www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Amazing! I just realized that: 1) I am certain the worst provincial premier ever is currently in office, and: 2) I don't know who it is! ☹️

Jen the Feisty Librarian@feistywaters.com

Local woman wakes up, sends out a press release saying the oatmeal committee has decided on a worst premier ever referendum before the oatmeal committee actually voted, makes oatmeal.

Speaking of vanished empires...

Trump, ranting and raving about his ballroom: "This is Rome. They like the flat roof. Greece likes the the triangles, and you see that. This is a porch that looks out over the city. Also, it's developed in such a way that we can have military there. It's also a drone port."

They should move quickly and grab 'Ford Fiasco' before the Ford Motor Company takes it for a new model.

They already had many times the wealth they could ever possibly use, yet still want more. Not relatable or to be trusted. Time for the revolution.

The world’s ten richest people — all Americans — saw their collective net worth increase by $260 billion in April. These ten people are now worth a combined $2.7 trillion. The bottom 50% of U.S. households, 66 million in total, is worth $4.3 trillion. Wondering if inequality is out of control?

True. I strongly disagree with the principle of retroactive legislation. It's a technicality that shields individuals who chose to break the law in the past from any examination of a choice that was fundamentally antisocial. Of course, that is the entire point!

Shawn Micallef@shawnmicallef.bsky.social

This is not justice. You never have to listen to an Ontario Progressive Conservative talk about law & order again. Put this back in their face. Every minister, every back bencher. They all voted for secret govt.

It is entirely believable that Ford and his government did not know that when they bought the jet. C'mon, it's only 30 millon other-people's dollars. How much time can you spend over that?

I know, it's as weird a question as why would anybody elect her as an MP in the first place, and multiple times, yet.

Supriya Dwivedi@supriya.bsky.social

ah yes a tent so big that even conspiracy theorists and pro conversion therapy pushers are welcome into LPC caucus

If she'd just not been so impatient one of the men would have done it. She probably didn't even try jiggling the handle.

Four astronauts on the space flight. Three men. One woman. After they leave orbit and head towards to moon, they discover that the toilet is broken. Who fixes it? Well, the woman, of course. As my wife said: Well, duh, of course the woman fixed it. Stop asking stupid questions. I love my wife

The US should probably look to hire some of those Iranian nuclear experts. After all, those guys got within two weeks of completing a bomb in just the time since since their entire infrastructure was obliterated by the USAF last November.

Wayne Benner@tygrhawk.bsky.social

More corruption in plain sight.

Stupidity is like dying in your sleep, the victim is unaware of it and the suffering is done by everyone around them.

Neil Before Zod@waytowichneil.bsky.social

It doesn’t bother me that people on the right are this intentionally stupid, it bothers me that they think the rest of us are.

The thought of China's emergent power combined with the rocket fuel of an unfiltered Doug Ford is pretty terrifying! God only knows how big a Ferris Wheel they'd build!

He's spent the last year and a half showing that he has no grasp of soft power, and now that he doesn't know the difference between an ally and a vassal. The US will have all the allies it wants when its government starts acting and sounding like one itself.

Shannon@shannon66.bsky.social

Stop calling other countries "allies". We aren't. He's destroyed it. He's threatened Canada's (my country's) sovereignty repeatedly. He insults our Prime Ministers by calling them, "Governors". He's done this worldwide. We all fucking HATE him. HATE HIM! He's destroyed global trust for DECADES!

Athletes should be seen and not heard. This guy has done nothing but go play hockey where somebody told to go play hockey and now earns millions for still doing that as an adult... just like all of them. Please, Brady, no life advice! You too Wayne and Bobby!

All my life I've been hearing about automation increasing productivity and improving everyone's life quality by reducing working hours, but what really happens is jobs disappear while workload increases for a dwindling number of workers. Now prepare for that to start happening on steroids.

Eric Feigl-Ding@drericding.bsky.social

Study finds 93% of U.S. jobs can now be performed at least partially by AI. 📍According to the report, the top six most-impacted jobs by percentage of tasks that can be done by AI are: www.forbes.com/sites/johnkoetsier/2026/02/25/report-jobs-that-are-most-and-least-impacted-by-ai

True. The irony is that if Trump had ever shown himself to be appeasable it would have worked. But Donald can always be counted on to do something to stiffen his opponents' spines.. in fact that's the only thing he can be depended on for.

Lisa 🇨🇦@pinkmouse.bsky.social

When Trump started this tariff shit countries thought they still needed the US & appeasement would work. He has wielded tariffs like a weapon, threatens everyone, he's unhinged & countries have had enough. It was always going to take time - I think Carney's speech at Davos was the turning point.

Yes. It's not a triumph, it's 2000 people out of 40 million that love Pierre. We'll find out what the CPC caucus, who didn't vote, really think in the coming months.

What's the solution? Waiting for this lot to rediscover their humanity on their own obviously isn't going to work.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan. Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a “massacre.”

And he really did call them "spy cars." Is Ford 12? 🙄

Stephen Lautens@stephenlautens.bsky.social

"Chinese spy cars are going to listen to my phone calls!" I said. "That's right," said Alexa. "I agree," posted Facebook. "That would be bad," said Siri. "Absolutely," agreed Uber. "Here's a bunch of car accessories you might be interested in," said Amazon. #cdnpoli #ONpoli

I've been surprised all along how little attention has been paid to this thuggish presentation and behavior by a branch of your official authorities.

What worries me with ice is that the public has no way of knowing if they are really ice. They have unmarked vehicles, wear masks, show no warrants or legal paperwork, no identification, and appear very unprofessional and violent. Anyone could be impersonating ice to terrorize our communities.
