One reason I vote early is that it usually stops the constant texting, letters, and door knocking I get reminding me to vote. This year, I got two postcards and three texts AFTER voting, thanking me for voting. Not helping…

I would like to see a new feature on arXiv that labels preprints that use AI upfront, since apparently TWO slop papers were successfully uploaded to the preprint server over the last two nights... arxiv.org/abs/2610.26056 🔭🌟🪐

I’m presenting a Het Talk at UNC Research Week! As a recipient of the Phillip and Ruth Hettleman Prizes for Scholarly Achievement, I will present about my research on Young Planets. The live webinar is limited to UNC (unc.zoom.us/webinar/regi...). The talks will go on YouTube later. 🔭🧪 #exoplanets

STScI received 3,203 GO proposals for 138,460 hours (with an additional 8,971 Pure and Coordinated parallel hours requested). This corresponds to an oversubscription of 18:1 with respect to the 7,700 hours offered in Cycle 6. 🔭🧪😱😭

One of the enormous advances in astronomy since my grad school days has been in our understanding of gyrochronolgy. Look at this amazing figure and reflect on the rich physics it contains about stellar spin down!

The paper is sufficiently short that I don’t think a summary here is needed, but I’ll highlight that this is part of a larger effort to fill the gaps in the gyro (rotation-age) sequence to get better ages for field stars.

For those unaware; eROSITA is a joint German-Russian mission and they literally divided the sky in halves for data rights. The war and subsequent sanctions made this... complicated...

A while back, Elisabeth Newton visited and commissioned Isabel to do some for her students as well. I attached a few below. These are for Drs. Aylin Garcia Soto, Keighley Rockcliffe and Rayna Rampalli. 🔭🧪⭐🎨

If you are interested: Isabel does not use LLMs/AI in her artwork and the final work is worth every penny (at least in my view). Her contact info is on her website. 🧪🔭⭐

When you ask me to serve on a review panel, and aren't willing to cover the cost of childcare, you are asking me to pay money out of pocket to do you a service. 🧪🔭 This is why I rarely serve on review panels.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

For those who missed it at Cool Stars 23 I want to highlight some really awesome posters from my students. Really creative design and awesome science. 🧪🔭⭐ #exoplanets

Last is the SOYSAUCE survey, PI Madyson Barber. Work on studying the alignment between planets and their host stars, focusing on <200 Myr systems (fast misalignment or primordial misalignments). So far, things look aligned. This was done as a twilight zone reference 🧪🔭⭐ #exoplanets

First up, old timey newspaper highlighting the discovery of the greater pleiades complex and the >1million-star catalog of rotation periods from TESS. 🧪🔭⭐ #exoplanets Work by Andy Boyle.

Next, Isabel Lopez Murillo's fantastic work on transiting timing variations in young planetary systems. Really solid design. You can tell she's also an artist. 🧪🔭⭐ #exoplanetshttps://analopezmurillo.github.io/

My students' talks at #Coolstars23 were so good they caused an earthquake!! If you are there, stop by posters by Madyson Barber, Isabel Lopez Murillo, and Andy Boyle. All are excellent and have really novel designs. 🔭🧪
