I’m back on Mastodon - Doing a quick check of the micro.blog cross post. Then it’s probably time for breakfast and back to work!
This was cool to watch, SpaceX launch. Ship lost one engine. But looks good so far. Impressive technology.
This video is making the rounds. AI obviously, but what will happen if we can put AI into a robot? Will we explore space? The bottom of the ocean? No reason to terraform if your Claude Bot can land on Mars and do it for you.
From hackernews, this post about Papua New Guinea was a terrific morning read. Looks like all my Apple devices are updated, time to get back to work!
So excited, I picked up Whalefall by Daniel Kraus at the library after returning Angel Down, which was awesome. Today, I find out they’re making a movie about Whalefall! And this is after loving Dog Stars which is also being made into a movie! Maybe I should decide which novels become movies!!!
I like this quote from Damon Lindelof on the Lanterns being an adaptation: “We go to bed asking, ‘Did I do anything worthwhile creatively? Did I put anything authentically emotional into this story that people can relate to?”
Reading this just increased my blood pressure. TL;DR Rich assholes don’t want people without homes to sleep outside. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/22/us/politics/homelessness-lonsdale-billionaire-trump.html?unlocked_article_code=1.7VA.c9Tb.jC5nWeB1XHbn&smid=nytcore-ios-share
I really liked this article - AI;DR. I’m getting sick and tired of corporate emails written in the same “AI way”. Don’t get me started on Claude Powerpoint presentations. Why is it always 3 boxes? Why the asinine sub headers? Can’t people connect the dots anymore?
omg this is just perfect - making a mixed tape - I would spend HOURS making mixed tapes. A great use of time IMHO. Creative, expressive … man, I miss those days.
Really loved the novel The Dog Stars, let’s hope this movie does it justice. Funny to see a trailer and within a few seconds think to yourself, “I loved that book!”

Ugh, www.actonclimate.com/trumptracker/ he's just so disgusting. Let's keep polluting, not investing. He never invests in anything worthwhile.
